Remington Customer Service Report:

I know Remington gets beaten up about their customer service, but I’ve got a different story.

I have a Rem 1187 Sporting Clays gun that’s about 4 or 5 years old. I shot it quite a bit before I bought my Browning 425. When I sold the 425 to buy a 525 I was again shooting my 1187 until my new gun arrived.

While I was shooting it, the magazine tube came detached from the receiver (See photo below).

I contacted Remington Customer Service and they instructed me to send it back to them instead of taking it to a repair station. They said it would take 4 to 6 weeks to repair, so I Fedex-ed it to them.

I called them after 2 weeks and they told me the mag tube had been repaired. Now they were just waiting for it to be refinished and to call back in another 2 weeks.

When I called back, they said the gun was boxed up and ready to ship. And guess what? 5 days later I had my gun. From start to finish it was total of 5 weeks, that’s right 5 weeks just like they said.

Last night was the first chance I had to shoot it and it shoots great. It shot a perfect 50/50 pattern at 30 yards. Right at the point of aim. It looks good too.

Say what you want about Remington, but they did right by me.

I recently bought an 870 with a factory mag extension, and the extension connector was on so tight from the factory that there was no way to remove it withough damaging the finish on it. They sent me a new one right away.

A small part, but I had great service as well.

A few years ago I fully stripped a Remington .22 semi-auto down for a cleaning. Well, I lost the little screw that holds the tube magazine to the barrel. :banghead: I called Remington about ordering one.

The nice lady on the phone confirmed which part it was and sent one out. For Free! I got it about 5 days later. Now the screw is about a 1/4 inch long, and probably cost them all of $0.03, but they didn't even ask me to pay shipping.

I was very pleased with the service. I even sent an email through their website telling them how happy I was, and that I would be very likely to buy more Remingtons because of it. I got a nice email back saying they appreciated the comment.

My POJ 11-87 broke in the first 10 rounds and they wouldn't send me a replacement $2 part. It broke a different part in the first year. I no longer buy Remington autos and assume there is no warranty, because I have received none.

In long guns, I only buy Remington products!

About the Gunny SGT:
I know Carlos Norman Hathcock II prefered the
Winchester model 70; but a good Remington
700 BDL will do anything that his Winchester
would do.
