hello all, first post here

I recently got a great deal on a remington r15 rifle; what are my best options for sighting set ups?

I would really like to get some iron sights first of all since its a flat top upper. I like the holo sights, but im not so thrilled about having to rely on it entirely.

I am looking for more of a medium to close range application here, so iron sights in conjunction with a holo or dot sight might be great.

What would my best options be for getting some iron sights on here (.680 OD barrel)?

Most of the big name sight makers offer replacement sights / gas blocks that will fit .680 diameter bbls. From there add the clamp on rear sight of your choice.

i looked on midway and i could not find anything specifically for my barrel. there were .625 i have seen and .72 .75 and bigger, but nothing in .68. Any ideas?

thanks for the input, how about an eotech type sight? any experience with them?

I must have been thinking .625. You might call Brownells and speak to a gunsmith. Ask if they can recommend a .625 front sight or railed gas block that has enough metal on it for a gunsmith to mill out to .680. Maybe someone here has a better idea.

They're good, solid sights. I like their reticle quite a bit. I just like Aimpoint's insane battery life better (2 to 7 years constant on depending on model chosen). Most of the major brand red dots work pretty well though.
