I have a WW2 remington rand available to me right now. It has had some work done on it, with a new trigger, grips, and sights... but the frame and internals are all original. Does not look like it has been refinished. Hes asking 800. This seems like a good deal, but i dont want to pull the trigger and take a hit on it.

This a good deal? or about the right price. Advice please!

Hmmm... without pics it's hard to say. Normally, I would say that's a decent price as you can find grips and maybe a trigger, but the comment about new sights is worrisome. Did they have the slide altered to accept new sights? If so, that could really hurt collector value.

I don't mean to possibly insult your knowledge of GI 1911s but without photos or more frame details I gotta throw this out there:

The majority of "Remington Rand" 1911s I've seen in my life were actually RR slides on other (mostly Colt - in my experience) frames which goes even further than condition sometimes in determining value.
