Remington UMC green/white box for self defense??

Keep in mind it’s not simply about “bullet” performance. There is quality control round to round. There is low flash signature powder vs not. (Remington Green Box is quite MUZZLE FLASHY) there is powder Charger per round.

Personally I am of the mindset that any half decent defensive round will do you fine if you can actually shoot but that said there are factors in play where more expensive ammo does provide benefits.

Penetration. I'll use 124s, but prefer 147s. I find them more accurate too, probably due to the long bearing surface.

In my experience less muzzle blast is an additional benefit to the heavier 9mm options.

I've also noticed that 147s recoil less than reasonably loaded 124s. It's slight but noticable side by side IMO.

I’ve never shot 147 gr out of 9mm but I can’t tell a difference between 115 gr and 124 gr. At least in standard pressure I can’t. I’ve noticed more recoil with 124 but it was +p load. The only exception is Hornady critical defense, that stuff has the mildest recoil I’ve ever shot. I’ve shot range ammo that seems hotter. That’s why it’s my sd load in my 43. I can’t convince myself to buy 147 gr for self defense. In short compact 9mm my worry is not enough velocity to reliably expand. Maybe I’m wrong and it’s just in my head, but my 115 cd is mild recoil, very accurate, and reliable.
