Not an old phart, although I am over 30, I am just discovering revolvers.
I'm a fairly new shooter, I got into the sport about 3 years ago. My first handgun, after lots of renting and range time, was a 1911. I owned all 1911's for years.
I have since moved to DA/SA pistols (SIGs) as 30-30, I want it to go bang when I need it, without wiping a safety. I did keep a 1911 that is especially dear to me.
But I wanted a pocket pistol, and I like to stay with one manual of arms if at all possible.. Sig doesn't really make a pocketable pistol. So I considered, and bought, a S&W 442 Airweight.
I love this thing!!
I have since added a S&W Model 22 in 45ACP, and am considering adding a Model 29 in 44mag and/or a 60 or 686 in 357mag. I really
really like the way revolvers point and function. I always have a hoot shooting my 442... I put 50 rounds through it at the range today, and really enjoyed it.
As it stands, though, I'm still more proficient with my SIGs. I have stepped up the training since I've switched carry guns, and am practicing 3 times a week with my SIG P239 and S&W 442. I'm still way ahead on the P239.
But I have more fun with the 442
I don't think I'll ever sell all my "bottom feeders" but I can certainly see adding a few more wheelguns. Maybe even more wheelguns than semiautos from here on out...
