I'm really going to miss his posts. He was always friendly and non confrontational, never condescending, and on the rare occasions he was mistaken, was genuinely graceful in his replies.
I admired both his knowledge and the class he showed in his posts.

Rest in Peace, RC. Always enjoyed reading your post. Know that your knowledge was a benefit to so many more than just the individual to whom the post was directed. May your family find solace in these posts, and in the great many positive influences you've had here, on so many of us.

As many here, I would open up reloading posts that were not necessarily in my interests, just to see what I could learn. I would read, and look for RC's response, as I could count on it to be the correct information.
RC, rest in peace in our creator's arms. Thank you for your service, thank you for your knowledge, thank you for being the highlight of THR.
    My prayers for your family.

I lost my dad over 10 years ago at the age of 69 to lung cancer. Just like RC, way too young! We've also had our share of family members with Alzheimer's and dementia. Two of my mother's brothers are in assisted care facilities and are both going through the spectrum. Until we got them in a home, it was a tough burden on my mom and us.
So, I can understand, to a degree, the toll on RC in caring for his wife.

    God Bless!

I joined the THR group just a few years ago and quickly came to appreciate the thoughtful and useful responses RC offered to a variety of questions posted on THR everyday. At some point I learned that he too was from Lawrence, Ks and hoped to meet him one day. Sadly, I'll never get that opportunity. We have all lost a friend. So, Bull, thank you for letting the rest of us know and I'm sorry for your personal loss.

I've just returned from vacation and learned this very sad news.

RC will be greatly missed but not gone as long as his name is remembered and he is spoken of. RIP RC Model.

I have been away from THR for the past few months and I am heart broken to return to hear one of the kindest and most knowledgeable souls to contribute to this community has passed. RIP Richard, your wit, knowledge, and advice will be missed. It now becomes the duty of the rest of us to share what RC taught us with the shooters of tomorrow, and in that way we can pay tribute to his memory and impact on all of us.

I wish I could have helped him the way he helped so many of us. God bless and God speed. You will be missed.

"Good Lord that man was patient" Is all I could think when he'd reply to some of the bonehead posts myself and others had made. Definitely like an online father figure.

He knew the difference between an opinion and an answer and his answers were always well researched and on topic. His best memorial on THR will be for all of us to follow his example.

Some months back a mod put a knife I hade made up for sale, and I commented that I'd love to have it but couldn't afford it. RC paid for it and had it sent to me.

I will always appreciate that, and that special knife is even more so now.

    Here's the knife:

RC will truly be missed for his knowledge and generous sharing. It would be a proper memorial to emulate his approach.

    Rest in peace, RC.

Very sad news! I would always look for his input even on topics I really had no interest in. Always, always had something positive to add! What a class act! He will surely be missed!
The Sicilians have a saying; " God Bless, may he be in heaven, a half hour before the devil knows he is dead." In Rc's case the devil had no control over where he went. "I betcha!"

RC was a true gentleman and possessed such a deep knowledge of firearms and most other things related to fun and freedom. I truly appreciate all of the things he shared here and will sorely miss him.

He was one of those people who seems to know almost everything about everything but never rubs your face in it -- just sharing knowledge for knowledge's sake.

Very sorry to hear that he has passed. RIP. My condolences to the family and all his friends, both here and in the "real" world.
