Well, this rifle has certainly piqued my interest. It apparently takes standard AK magazines. Seems expensive for what it is though and upper and lower are both proprietary.

Hmmm, all the problems with 7.62x39 on standard AR lowers appear to be addressed here, this thing is built from the ground up to work with 7.62x39 reliably.

All those optic mounting issues with AK's may be resolved with this weapon. But you have to wonder if it will have the renown reliability of the AK-47.

There is far more to the legendary reliablity of the AK than just the mags.

There are also excellent optics mounting options available today for the AK such as side mounts, solid top rails and fore rails.

I would be interested to see if the RR has any better accuracy in 7.62 than an AK though.

It would be hard-pressed to beat a Saiga for accuracy. I suspect, though, that it also combines the worst of both worlds: AR reliability with the AK mag system. I understand the reasons why. AK mags are both common and cheap, but still.

I wonder if you could put a 5.56 upper on it and use the Bulgarian or Israeli 5.56 mags. These mags lock into a standard 7.62 AK magwell just fine, and vice versa.

It seems more like someone who wants to stay trained on one system having access to multiple magazines and calibers. I'd check it out, but I doubt it'd take my Saigas place.

Id love to see them offer just a lower, and i could build my own upper with a piston gas system. Im not a proponent of the piston system, but if im gonna run real crappy corrosive ammo through any gun, id rather it be a piston system. You could get a nice accurate plateform from witch to shoot 7.62 or 5.45 x 39 ammo from, and still use the ak mags. Only problem is the krebs custom price for a non krebs custom ak...

I've always preferred the AK 47 to the AR and I've owned an AR that shot 7.62x39 rounds but there was always a problem with the magazine so I'll save up and give it a try.

Don't think it possible, the upper is also non-standard (wider) I've been told. Perhaps a piston conversion would work but that jacks up the cost even more.

i would guess that it would be more accurate.

AR's usually are more accurate, right?

I would actually be really interested in this. The one thing about ARs that has kept me at arms length has been the 5.56 cartridge.

But you have to wonder ? Do we ?

I have a RRA CAR2 I bought years ago, always trying to find another RRA, they advertise em, but you cant find them.....so much for them, went out and bught me another Armalite AR10, got tired of messing with RRA. I wont do business with them anymore.

Why are all these gosh darn ar companies so ridiculously expensive? I like their products and I have an ar that I put together myself for much less. I mean why do they try to make everything so that only the elites can afford it? The only ones that cater in the slightest to what's left of the middle class ar del-ton, dpms, and smith and wesson, and even with those all you are getting is the low-end. I know it doesn't cost 1400 dollars to produce that thing! Sorry for the rant guys I just needed to vent.

Or you can go to Walmart and buy a Colt for under $1K.

have never seen a Colt AR-15 at Wal-Mart. That's completely BS.
Claiming a legitimate claim, as evidenced by multiple members at multiple forums, is BS sure doesn't seem too "High Road" to me. Just because you haven't seen it yourself doesn't mean it isn't reality.
