Ruger 10/22 'New' Takedown Model

I just saw the gunblast video on YouTube. I can't believe nothing has come out before this!

I'd love to get one, but I will have to make do with my standard carbine for now.

Of course the inevitable question is ..."What took them so long?"

Ramline came out with a QD barrel system back in the 1980s that actually worked really well. When Ramline kind of died after the AWB (hi-cap mag ban) they didn't bring it back.

Now Ruger comes up with another zinger that they will sell tons of if they can keep up with production on there other guns. They recently put out a notice that they aren't taking any new orders until production catches up with demand.

And yeah, I want one! :)

Another nice take-down system was the Butler Creek "Packer" stock.

.

It competes very nicely with the Marlin Papoose and the Henry AR-7 survival rifle. But it's a full stocked gun when put together and includes a case. I think it might be a winner for Ruger.

Local fun store just got a batch of these in. They are letting people shoot them for free at their indoor range. If I get the time, I may go check one out. I like the concept and currently do not own a 10/22...

I want one, the Mrs will want one as well
Looks like I'll be ordering yet another set of Tech-Sights and tossing another scope rail in the parts bin ... or maybe I'll finally get around to chopping down a scope mount and putting a little red-dot on it.

I'd rather have wood and a "youth" or "compact" size, might wait a bit to see if they expand the line, and I already have 3 10/22s ... and a Henry USSR ... and a Marlin Papoose - so there's no rush!

Tempting. I could probably use another 10/22...

I think that take-down rifles are nifty. However, they never have sold particularly well. So, I wonder how long Ruger will keep it in the catalog.

For example, the Marlin 39 TDS is a real nice little lever action (well, it is a 39) that breaks down into a small package. But Marlin didn't keep it in the catalog very long.

Maybe the Ruger will kindle a small resurgence, or it may be part of a trend.

In centerfires, we now have the Browning BLR and the TC New Dimension (I definitely want both, but may just get the TC). We will have to see if more show up.

I don't really NEED another 10 22, but that is cool. Now, bring it out in 22WMR with an interchangeable 17 HMR barrel and we're in business.

The second I get back from Texas I'm gonna snap one of these up. I've been looking for a quality take down for a while and this seems to fit the bill.

The great thing about the world ending on 12-21-12 is that there will be a lot of cool stuff for sale on 12-22-12.

:rolleyes::D

Seriously, this looks like fun.

Oh boy...just when I thought I "had everything"...turns out I don't. Very neat. I wonder how well Tech Sights would work here? What with the receiver and barrel coming apart? With Barrel mounted sights you don't have to worry about tiny fractions of degrees of alignment...at least geometrically speaking, here you would. Would it make a practical difference given what this gun is meant to do? I doubt...but wonder. Still, awsome.

I love Jeff Quinn over there at Gunblast as he loves every gun he sees! I've got at least a half-dozen different configurations of 10/22s. I find myself shooting a S&W M&P15-22 more often, which can easily be stuffed into a bag or backpack as upper and lower if that's what I wanted to do. Perhaps if it was in 22WMR I'd be warmer.

HoosierQ - if it works with a scope, it should work with Tech-Sights

A rec. mounted aperture and a barrel-mount front sight works stock on the Henry AR7 variant, and TechSights work on my Papoose as far as I can tell.
