In the new issue of "Backwoods Home" magazine (Nov./Dec.'09), Massad Ayoob writes, in his article entitled "The All American 1911 Pistol", that "Ruger is ready to introduce a low-priced, high quality 1911."

Does anyone have any info on this, as to a release date?

If Ruger puts out a 1911 with the right price point, I am THERE.

I do love Rugers!

I bet it would be better than the Taurus... and if the price is less, id snag one.

Ruger's have always been good to me.

Really? Really? Seriously?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it will be a nice weapon. I'm sure it will work well. But, I am also sure it will totally extraneous.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Ruger advocate.... but they should stick to what they do best. Make guns based on something already out there, not replicate them exactly.

I hope there are no external or internal locks on it, like everything sold these days. I will buy one in a heartbeat if there are no locks on it.

Rugers work, work, work and work some more, all at a great price.

I don't mind the warning label as long as that's the case.

I'm totally anxious to see the Ruger 1911. I'll ditch my Springfield in a heartbeat to get one.

It could be made 1911-like in external appearance and dimensions, but employ straight line feeding for better reliability with all ammunition types. Of course, that would take away the parts interchangeability and probably require proprietary magazines.

I think the warning label on Rugers is too large. Having said that, it's a non issue to me.

I wanna see this Ruger 1911.

The warning does not bother me to a great extent. I still own an sp101 and a redhawk. I also am looking to buy a LCR. I just think that it mucks-up a beautiful looking piece.

P.S. I probably would buy the 1911 Ruger as well.

The "low-priced" part is what I'm most speculative about, in recent years Ruger seems to have forgotten that low price and quality is what built the company.

That said, yet another 1911 manufacture will be a welcome addition to the current 25+...........Why not?

If Ruger built a 1911 it would be a great pistol. It would probably weight about 4 lbs. Of course some of the weight would be reduced when they carve out the warning paragraph.

If they don't put a blankity blank firing pin block in it, it would be worth serious consideration, and hopefully they won't disgrace the slide with that silly warning that belongs in the manual, not on the gun.

It doesn't bother me much on my Ruger revolvers. Sure, I'd rather it wasn't there, but I don't lose sleep over it.

or.......they could just make it to the proper specs with good quality control. Then it would work from the git go, first time every time. ;)

ill pass, never got over their support of the assualt rifle ban. and ditch a Springfield? i think not!
