Ruger 1911 coming soon??

I think that a part of what drives this idea is that Ruger needs a win. They have had some big recalls in the last couple of years, and those who were on the fence about them before are staying away now. Making 1911s isn't classified. I think if the make a solid 1911 for in the neighborhood of $5-600, it will be a hit. People WANT their traditional labels, like Ruger, to succeed. I'm not in the market for another 1911, my dad bought a Springer a year ago, if a Ruger had been out there, I bet he would have bought it instead, to go with his Single-Six and Mk-I.

I have never liked Ruger center-fire autos, mostly because of the trigger. This is a big chance for them to get it right.

And (I started a thread about this years ago,) Am I the only one who finds it ironic that just about everyone BUT BROWNING is making 1911s now?

I'd say Ruger had a HUGE win with the LCP, even with the bump-in-the-road recall.

And did Browning ever make 1911? I know John Browning invented the things, but....

I am anxious to see this! A Ruger 1911 priced similarly to the Taurus offering would almost be a must have for me.

ill pass, never got over their support of the assualt rifle ban. and ditch a Springfield? i think not!

i know. that's a really difficult one for me to get over, also :-(

i'm not saying it would stop me from buying a Ruger. i believe Bill Ruger passed away and it's not even really the same Co. anymore, no? but still, every time i even hear the name Ruger, it is the first thing that comes to mind :-(

im in the market for a 1911 so this may be an interesting thing to wait on

anyone have any info on if it is acctualy on the works and possably a release?

the warning is a bit off puting but i can probably get past it if the gun is reliable and has the features im looking for without breaking the bank

and since bills no longer in charge the "face" of ruger has improved on supporting us they even started making high capacity magazines for the mini 14 and 30 again with a factory high cap 10/22 mag in the works (that may be a rumor tho)

buhahaha Bush Pilot. that cracked me up.

I personally like my ruger mark III and would be interested in a 1911 if they were to ever give us specs on it.

ill pass, never got over their support of the assualt rifle ban.

I gather Ruger changed their mind on that issue, given their introduction of their own AR model several months back, a gun that made the cover of American Rifleman a couple months ago. Ironically, they came out with that gun just months after Eric Holder told us of Obama's intention to pursue a ban on that and any gun like it. Kind of like symbolically giving Obama the finger, isn't it?

Ruger isn't the only company to have recalls of new products. I see a stick about a Sig P238 recall on here, too.

At least Ruger "mans up" and fixes their mistakes.

Also, as to Ruger and hi cap mags, I just ordered a new factory 30 round mag for my Mini 14 Ranch Rifle from CDNN for $29.99, plus a fin for shipping. The factory 20 rounders are $24.99, plus $5 shipping.

I suspect whatever 1911 Ruger gins up will have so many "safety" [AKA lawyered up] features that it wouldn't resemble a 1911. I got duped by Ruger's extremely inaccurate Mini-14 so I'll pass on whatever comes out.

it will be about the same price or less than the taurus, and most likly better built, and if there is an issue with it, they will fix it and return it to you in a very timly manner.

"It'd be the only 1911 with a warning label on it, that's for sure."

Smith & Wesson already beat them to that. "Caution - Capable of firing with magazine removed"

Bush Pilot Post # 32:

Now THAT'S funny :p

I love Rugers, my first pistol was a Ruger, but they would be so late in the 1911 game, have so many warning labels, safety devices (not their fault), and besides, I would have to wait on it to be returned . . . . . .:cuss:

Not the same company it used to be. Count me out on this one.

Just speculating -- Ruger's customer service reps could be kept in the dark about development. Or if not in the dark, they could be told to say nothing about what is in development.

in recent years Ruger seems to have forgotten that low price

I don't know about that. They brought out the LCR that sells well under the price of a S&W (dealer gouging aside, mine was NIB for $380) and out preforms it as well.

I always think it is funny that people will assert their favor or disfavor of a yet to be produced product. If Ruger makes a reliable, durable, gun at a competitive price I don't see how that can be a bad thing. I'm not in the market for a 1911 right now and will likely buy a higher end one if I ever get back in that market, but it will be interesting to see how such a product would turn out.

I also think it is funny that people rag on Ruger so much for their recalls and give other manufactures a pass.

They make nice things. Since I got my lcp I have been looking more and more at
other ruger guns. A vaquero will be obtain one day after I get a couple of other guns that I want a little more.

I think if they produced a value priced single stack 9mm 1911 they would have a winner. The current 9mm 1911 offerings are scarce, and IMHO at $800+ are way too expensive for a gun who's purpose is to shoot cheap ammo.

This is the only void I see in the 1911 market.

Dont tease everybody like that:banghead:. Being a 1911 freak,- 1911+Ruger=a Damn good 1911!!! We'll see wont hold my breath.

I don't care about the warning label on them, Hell I'll let them engrave advertising in it if it means I can get it cheaper. I don't stare at my guns, I shoot them.
