Ruger GP 100

What do I own? 4" KGP-141

Grips? The factory Hogue's

Loads? Whatever I can get my hands on, it's impossible to find anything around here. 200grn Corbon when hiking.

Modifications? None, only had it 2 weeks.

What should Ruger do? A lighter trigger would be cool, but it's pretty good from the factory.

Holster? None yet. gun shops around here suck for revolver stuff.

I'm in! Just picked up a new Stainless with a 4" barrel!!

I have the factory Hogue grips. I like these grips!!

I haven't modified it, or even shot it yet. The wait is killing me too...

Yeah I like the looks of the original GP grips, but the Hogue feels like it was made for my hand!! That does it, I'm leaving work early to shoot.

well boys, count me in.

4" stainless w/ adjustable sights

Hogue monogrips ( they look like crap, but feel great! they're stayin!)

Loads- 125 gr. jhp of the remington golden sabre variety/ WWB for range

No mods

I think Ruger is on track, wouldn't change a thing.

No holster.....YET

I'm waffling between the keeping my original grips or going with the Hogue monogrip. On the one hand, the original grips feel fine, and look great, but if my other Hogue grip is any indication, Hogue grips will feel GREAT. It's killing me.

Hogue makes two models of monogrips for the GP100, the 80000 and the 80020. What's the difference?

There is the rubber monogrip, the nylon (hard) monogrip, and than the "tamer" monogrip.

The nylon one is for anyone who wants to modify the shape of the grip.

I am a newly owner of this Brute Beast aka Mr. Full Shroud 6" GP100;

What's the most comfortable way to open carry this guy?

The HOGUE 'TAMER' has a Sorbothane panel in the back of the rubber grip.
The grip profile is a little bit more rounded at the bottom/base, and is softer at the web of the hand.
It does make a bit of a difference in felt recoil, and is less 'pointy' at the bottom/back of the grip.

As for OC, a nice, leather belt holster would look nice...:D

Oooh! I don't think I've ever shot that well with a handgun before. I'm gonna start reloading, otherwise I wont be able to shoot this thing as much as I want!

I sold my Marlin 1894ss so I could get my GP100. No regrets.

I've owned a full lug 6" stainless GP-100 for over 20 years, with no modifications. The original grips always felt just about perfect for me.
The only thing I would like Ruger to do is make it in different calibers like .44 Special, .41 Magnum, or 10mm/.40 S&W with moon clips.

Just got home with my newly acquired GP 100. I have been wanting one of
these babies for over two years. Finally had the resources to pull the trigger
as they say.

4 inch barrel with full under lug.

Adjustable sites

Hogue grips (Nice)

Blued model

Can't wait to get out to the range and take her for a test drive.

Can I be in the club?

My 3" blued gp100, only put a couple of boxes of pmc jsp though her so far. I think for now I will keep her loaded with Winchester white box jhp because that's all i can find :)

Today, I shot perhaps my best 25-yard target with a GP100 and home-cast bullets.:)

I loaded up a few old, very used, Win 357 Mag cases with bullets that I just poured yesterday made from wheel weights and about 2% tin, and wanted to see how they would shoot --- because I normally remelt any that have voids or are not perfect when rolled. These were not perfect. They all weighted within +/- .5 grains, but had visible voids, etc.

Anyway, I took the 6" GP100 out to play today, and shot a 1 7/8" inch group at 25 yards.:)

I would not call it a 1 7/8" group with only six rounds.....

I shot four, 6-shot groups from sand bags at 25 yards. The 24 shots went 1 and 7/8 "

My worst group was 1.72" CTC. The best group of the six-shot, four groups went .662 CTC".:) The overall group size (when overlaying the four targets) was about 1 7/8".

A total group size of less that 2" at 25 yards is great for this old coot. I am pleased.:)

Just put a deposit on a 4" Stainless model from the late 80's that sat in a safe and had two boxes through it total. Looks perfect and actually has no exterior signs of use.

Add me to the GP100 club...

1) What do you own:
4" barrel stainless steel GP100, bought brand new in 2009

2) What grips do you use?
Currently using stock rubber monogrip. (Ruger no longer ships the GP100 with the wood-insert grips, but I believe still sells them online). I am considering buying Eagle Grips Secret Service smooth rosewood***.

3) What loads do you use?
Anything I can find these days. Try to stick with .357 (Seems a little harder to clean with .38s). I do not reload, or use reloaded ammo.

4) Any modifications?
None. I'm happy with it as is, 100% stock. Someday I may upgrade to Meprolight night sites, but the stock sights are very good.

5) What would you like Ruger to do differently to a GP100? Nothing. It's perfect. I've had this gun for less than a year, have shot about 2500 rounds through it. I can consistently knock over bowling pins out past 75 yards. This gun is accurate, heavy duty, just a great gun.

6) Holster(s): Fits perfectly in a Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack with optional Universal CCW Holster (a velcro and cordura loop that holds the gun upright, and works surprisingly well). I also have the Bianchi 6D ATB Waistband size 4, which is a soft suede IWB holster with thumbsnap hammer strap.

7) Speed Loader(s): Three HKS speedloaders fit snugly side-by-side in the outer pocket of the Versipack. I've yet to try speedstrips. I live in Southern California, where it is nearly impossible to get a CCW unless you are rich or famous, so all my "carry" is done around the house.

***Does anyone know if 586-A HKS speedloaders will work with Eagle Grips Secret Service GP100 grips?

got mine off of gun broker several months ago, and just got some .357 ammo. I've only shot .38 spec. through it so far. Looking forward to seeing the difference in recoil.
