Put my name down in the GP100 club.

6" Blued, all factory.

Factory rubber Hogue grip.

Nylon holster, I forget which brand.

Two speed loaders, again I forget which brand.

I use WWB FMJ flat nose .38 Specials at the range with a mix of Remington Golden Sabers and Hornady Critical Defense either in .38 Special or 357 Magnum for home defense.

I do want to at least replace the front sight with a hi-vis. All in due time. :D

1) What do you own: KGP141

2) What grips do you use? Factory hogue's

3) What loads do you use? .38fmj for plinking and small game. 200grn CORBON HC for critter protection in the woods

4) Any modifications? Nope, I'm pretty happy with Ruger's design

5) What would you like Ruger to do differently to a GP100? A matte/dull finish would be cool

6) Holster(s): I've got a thigh holster because it doesn't get in the way when backpacking and a Bianchi Accumold (pictured) for day hiking, hunting and what not

7) Speed Loader(s): Just some speed strips

Had to chime in. 4" barrel, stock grips, all factory as far as I know since I bought it used. Here are a couple of "artsy" pics...

B-e-a-utiful guns!

Hi all. I have decided to join the GP club very shortly! I am looking at the blued at a 6" for back country/hunting applications. What cowboy style holster are you 6" guys using? I will also be in need of a gun belt!

6" stainless full lug that I will shoot anything heavy out of, it soaks up recoil real nice and a 3" stainless with an unbelievebly smooth trigger. I've double tapped that gun unintentionally at the range. It's the night stand gun. ITs 125 mag sjhp' or 125 .38+p

4in blued, has stag inserts in the rubber grips, love it! It is my second GP100, had an original one in 6in heavy, loved it too but had to sell it. Glad to have another one!

I am bringing this old club thread back to the top to see if there are any new members. What a great thread, with some really good photos!

I joined about two months ago when a shiny new GP100 stainless 4" barrel with houge grips followed me home. It is rapidly becoming one of my favorite guns. I haven't settled into any loads yet, but have been firing a variety of .38 and .357 loads to see what it likes and to create a nice collection of once fired brass so I can work up a few loads that it really likes.

This is the first firearm that I have ever purchased that I feel is perfect for me from the factory, great trigger, great grips, great finish, shoots like a dream, and the way that heft soaks up recoil... I am now in a search for a good holster (thanks for the suggestions here), and probably a few speedloaders to accessorize, and a .357 lever gun to keep it company...

Thanks H C,
I have not seen this one....

I have a GP-100 SS 5"..... Davidson's Gallery

Stock grips and have Gold Dot JHP's loaded

No holster yet and I do have a few speed loaders.

Lateck,

I recently replaced the Hogues with Compact Fixed Sight model grips. The front sight is a HiViz. I have also replaced the stock 14 lb hammer spring with a 10 lb. I initially went with a 9 lb, but i was getting light strikes. Now that i am set up with 10 lb, it has been nothing but tip top.

1) What do you own: Blued 6" barrel with a half-lug.

2) What grips do you use? Hogue Rosewood grips.

3) What loads do you use? For the range I use a variety of .38's and .357's both factory and some of my handloads. For serious use I keep it stoked with 125 gr Remington SJHP's.

4) Any modifications? Replaced the front sight with one that has a red insert.

5) What would you like Ruger to do differently to a GP100? Making the 3-inch variant more often.

6) Holster(s): Blackhawk/Uncle Mike's Hip Holster, Custom Built leather shoulder holster from Lone Mountain Leather.

7) Speed Loader(s): HKS and Safariland Comp II's with a few speed strips thrown in for good measure.

Overall very happy with the revolver. Perfectly balanced and a smooth shooter.

Nice pair, Dan-O. I need to get some of those HiViz sights. I'm hoping to add a snubbie as well (with a SP101).

Just joined the club. :) In answer to the questions:

1. Mine is a 4" blued .357 with non-adjustable sights.
2. I have the larger-sized factory grips with custom wood inserts. The gun came with the smaller factory grips, but the seemed a bit out of balance with the 4" barrel.
3. So far, this gun has only seen .38 special target ammo. I'll try to run some .357 through her soon.
4. No mods have been done at this point. I might try to find a high-visibility front sight at some point.
5. As far as changes to the design, I wish that there were more half-shroud models out there. The gun shoots beautifully, but it's a bit muzzle heavy for my tastes.
6. No holster and no speed loaders yet...

Ok I'll bite.

I just bought a 4" Blued GP100 used (And by used I mean it had holster wear down one side, a skid down the other and an evidence locker number scratched into the side) for about half of what S&W 686's are going for. To go along with the cosmetic damage was a pristine bore, a lockup like a bank vault and a decent trigger pull. Getting it home and cleaning it resulted in a trigger pull that was heavy but super smooth and a view at internals that hadn't seen daylight since leaving the factory. I've seen NIB internals that looked worse. After a little lube and a careful cleaning, it's got a great single action pull and a slick double action that feels lighter than it is.

So... despite everyone's love for the stock ruger grips, they're my least favorite part of the gun. Who makes a wood grip of similar size without finger grooves?

Also, is this a blued gun or a stainless gun that's been "blued"?

@ sniper x and tman, did you guys blue those yourselves or did they come that way? that doesn't look like the blue finish i've seen on gp 100s

GPs come in either a factory blued or stainless steel finish. I've been told that the Ruger blued finish isn't as "deep" or "polished" as the Colt or Smith blued finish. Still, I think that the finish is pretty attractive.

1. Blue Steel 4" GP100 (141) adjustable sights
2. Original wood panel stocks (Love 'em)
3. Golden Saber 125gr JHP's for self defense & my own reloads 9.2 gr Unique topped with 125gr LFN slugs. For field carry I carry a Brand X 45 Colt (ouch sorry) with 255gr LFN loads
4. No Mods at all.
5. Nothing really, very happy. I would like to see Ruger come out with a Blue Steel 45 Colt though.
6. Carry Daily with Bianchi OWB leather. Reasonable gear but I will for sure upgrade with Rob Leahy to get better protection for the frame, cover the trigger, and eliminate the need for a thumb snap.
7. A pair Bianchi speed strips for discreet carry of reloads.

This is one great revolver that I am proud to own. Oh....by the way no internal lock to malfunction and no failures to function; 6 for sure works for me.

Just did the paperwork on my second 4" SS GP100 (foolishly sold the first one) and have already ordered an original grip for it to replace the Hogue it now comes stock with. Eventually it will wear Altamont inserts.

I love my GP-100 (actually KGP-141) which is the second of these I've owned. I've used them for IPSC competition and hunting, as well as target shooting. My only complaint is the sharp edge on the right edge of the trigger. I have rounded off the right edge of the trigger simply to prevent blisters from rapid fire shooting, common in competition.

may as well add my name to this club
i just bought this one kgp161 stainless

i own others as well like an rst6 in .22 a p90 in 45acp just to name a few :D

Just Got one.

Found a 4 inch in a gun shop used yesterday. Looks to be 2007 vintage. It is a stainless gun and I would bet it has not had more than a cylinder full through it. I have not shot it yet, but I ordered a Simply rugged pancake for it yesterday and I plan to use it as my primary work gun. I hope to run some rounds thru it this weekend. It has the old style wood and rubber grips and I like the way it feels. I have a Police service six blue and Speed Six with 2 5/8 barrel stainless and they are both awesome but I really like this GP also. You can never have too many Rugers.
