Same reason some folks bought a Pinto instead of a Maverick, I guess. Why would you buy this when the sr22 has been out for years?
Interestingly, for me... the comparison is exceptionally apt.

The LCP II is a good platform, good ergos, great trigger, sights that aren't too tall or too small, so I understand a .22, I want a .32, but a .25 doesn't make sense. The gun is the same size, so why choose a .25 over a .32? Recoil isn't going to be that much less.It would make sense to me that Ruger would release a whole "family" of LCPs in .22, .25, 32, etc.
There's no way a .22 mag autoloader would work in a gun the size of the LCP. That said, the Kel Tec .22 Mag is one of the best selling pistols right now so I can only imagine that Ruger is working on a clone of that. I still will never buy one, .22 Mag is rarer than a unicorn during a panic. They must be on crack if they have a MSRP of $300.00. And one mag? This has got to be a misprint right? If this gun is $300.00 then it better be the most reliable 22.cal's ever made in history. What the heck is it made out of that would warrant that price? That said and on the flip side, Ruger is smart. They took a Keltec, spruced it up and sold millions. Most people could not even shoot them well. Now they are going to double dip and hit the same crowd with a cheap gun at three times what they are worth. Man, that is smart selling. And you can bet there will be the same people lined up to get one. PT Barnum is smiling in his grave at this announcement.
After the 22.cal sell, they will go 32.cal, then 22. mag and then Pro Series for all the internet Pro's. Everybody wants to be a Pro right?

Most people couldn't shoot the original LCP well and with the trigger it was no surprise. I have the Custom and I shoot it well on steel plates at 10-15 yards, the LCP II trigger is very good for the size and was an improvement that made them easier to shoot.
I will buy a .32 LCP II if Ruger makes one. It would put the Kel Tec and Beretta Tomcat to shame.

Lol, just checked. Sorry it is not the whopping MSRP price of $300. My bad and that must have been a misprint. IT IS $349.00!
Sorry, have a very hard time believing that. I have the Keltec 32 and have a LCP, in fact have owned many LCP's. The Keltec is not pretty, but it shoot very well, easy to repair parts and I think I paid about $160.00 for it. Could not tell you about the Tomcat, never owned one.
The only reason I own a p32 is because it will pocket carry in some pants that a LCP is too bulky for. If Ruger made a 32acp the size of a LCP I don't see the point? My P32 has been 100% reliable just like my LCP. Other than a bit less recoil I don't notice much difference when shooting them both side by side.
I will buy a .32 LCP II if Ruger makes one.
If and when Ruger makes an LCP 32 it will most likely be the 380 with a new barrel. The benefits would be added magazine capacity.
Guess I am in the minority here, but I like the concept and will probably add one to my collection.

I will vouch for these little 22.cals I have been shooting for 10 years.
Funny enough, .32 and .25 were always available at Walmart, meaning they sold the ammo, just the ammo was Winchester that cost $25 a box and people said that the price of .32 ammo was "sobering."All this .32 talk with no new guns being made for it makes me think the cartridge is dying off.
Which means a .22 WMR out of a short barrel is the nearest equivalent, which also means I'd be carrying a wheel gun for something pocket sized in that cartridge.
...this would be "better" in 25acp or 32acp, but that's not going to sell tons and tons of guns, so that's not what it's chambered in.
