Anybody own one of these? I’ve got a line on a pair of them and the price is right. My real concern revolves around that 300 WM from 20” barrel being pretty equal to a 30-06 from a 24” barrel with a lot more recoil, muzzle flash and muzzle blast. It does come with an adapter to screw my suppressors onto it, but I don’t know if I really want to screw a suppressor onto a 20” 300 WM. The only reason I’m really interested is the asking price of $600 each. The guy has a pair of them. Shot very little. Might make for a decent suppresses deer rifle when hunting out of a blind, but I’ve already got a couple of short barreled 308s and 30-06s that would do that job pretty well. Anybody here bought one a regretted it?

The concern you outline is quite real. A 20” 300 WM will be a loud, concussive, hard kicking 30-06. I predict it won’t get shot a lot.

I don’t disagree that it won’t get shot much, but very few of my rifles get shot much. I’d most likely suppress it and use it as a woods rifle, but l do have other rifles filling that role. The truth is, I don’t need another rifle at all, but I don’t remember the last time I needed a new rifle either.

Considering you already have short barreled 308 and 30-06 I'd find the will power to pass. The older I get the less I like recoil and muzzle blast. My 18" 308 will kill anything I'll ever hunt and at ranges farther than I have the skills to shoot. Shooting the same bullets a little faster won't make any difference at the ranges I shoot, (300 or less).

Where the magnums matter is when you start shooting at game well beyond 500 yards. At 700 yards that extra 150 fps from the longer barrel might matter.

My suggestion is that you sell one of the two to me. I would have no problem getting one. You can then load it on the light end when hunting things that need a light load (overkill for a 300 Win) and hot for when you need that extra oomph. See:

Note how some have the opinion that differs from having a lighter load sometimes. But that is how I handle my Remington 700 Milspec in 300 Win. Wish you well with your choice.

For 600 bucks? Go for it! That is a great deal! And yes, run a suppressor on one. 20" would make the overall length reasonable with a can on the end. Heck, buy both and sell the extra on here for a profit, or let us know where there at...

No experience with 300WM, but had the Guide Gun been available left handed in that cartridge, I might we'll have some experience with it by now. As it stands, mine is a .375 Ruger. I think it may well be my favorite rifle (expensive as it is to feed).

I think you should buy at least one of them. I would, if I were right handed. Eh, if I were right handed, I'd buy both. And for $600 each it'd be the same cost as I paid to get out the door with my .375 Ruger.
