Umarex makes the Walther G- and P-22's and the Colt in a factory that also makes toys. After two Walther lemons, i wouldn't bother with any of their products, personally.

Also that thread on here a while back with the pics of the broken receiver..."it fell over on its own and broke" looked like something you should not be able to replicate without Marc Maguire and an oak tree.

I've heard good things about the sig. I have the smith M&P 15-22 and it's been great, mags are only $20 bucks and they WORK. 10/22 mags might be avalable cheaper but you have to wade through the junk. The colt feels wrong to me, the safty is goofy and it feels like a bb gun (guess why). The smith eats anything and is more accurate then my 10/22 and just plain fun.

The Colt is not a Colt. DOn't get it. I also don't suggest the Remington mentioned above.
The Colt is Made by Umarex and is crap.
The Remington had a major design flaw. The barrel is held in by only a single nut can be moved from side to side with minimal effort. It can actually touch the sides of the free float tube. BAD design.

The Ruger is nice but also look at the S&W .22 AR

If it has to be AR based then there's a lot of good opinions already. I've never seen that Remington 597 before. nice...

Otherwise Ruger 10/22 or Marlin model 60

I have a Marlin Model 60... i love it!!

I was at the gun show this past weekend...and the dealer told me the lower was from the airsoft gun...not sure if it's true or not...but the colt was not up to thier normal standards...I really liked the S&W....with the flash supressor..the mian reason I want the supressor is to not clog the barrel if you put it on the ground

AFAIK the colt is not a colt, it's an umarex, who usually makes airsoft guns...
And horrible quality airsoft guns at that. Seriously Umarex has just about the worst reputation for any manufacturer in the airsoft world, so I would find it pretty hard to spend money on a firearm from them. If they can't get it right with toys that shoot plastic BBs for fun then how can they be trusted with something that shoots lethal rounds? The pictures of the split reciever are simply evidence of this. Stay far away.

I have no shooting experience with them but I did get to handle one of the S&W M&P15-22s recently and let's just say it made me want one real bad. All the reports I've seen are very favorable as well.
