Ruger To The Rescue

looks like my next gun is likely to be a Ruger. I've been loyal to Springfield Armory for many years due to their customer service as well.

Thanks for sharing your great experience with Ruger CS. Your testament and many others is one of the the reasons why I purchased my SP101 in January this year.

Are you SURE it was a double charge?
IIRC Ruger had a problem with a batch of SP 101 cylinders with the Heat treating. Read a good bit about it over on the Ruger forum.
Either way, glad they treated you well. Not so well for me with a M77 and a barrel issue. But, I'm still not upside down on a Ruger M77 in .375Ruger. But, they DID charge me $400 to rebarrel a rifle that had lost the rear sight. They claimed the barrel was dangerous and wouldn't send the gun back with the original barrel installed. Sight popped off due to excessively hardened screws, that fractured upon firing by previous owner. (Supposedly in Africa, shooting at a Cape buffalo. Rifle had scope mounted. Owner was well healed Doctor. He could afford to dump the rifle, and frequently goes to Africa.)I too bought rifle for a song.
Hence, I could stand to pay expense of new barrel.
Silver lining is that original barrel didn't have barrel mounted swivels, new one does! The foward swivel would eat up my foward hand. I removed the stud and installed filler screws where studs were, I'd installed a stud on foward end of forend. I now use the barrel mounted stud for the sling...
New barrel is just as accurate as old one, thankfully. Shoots clover leaf groups. Second most accurate Ruger rifle I've ever seen. Most accurate is a friends circa 1977 (Wilson barrel) round top reciever .270. We both shot 3-shot 1/2" groups with it. WITH IRON SIGHTS! Though we were 19 at the time. He says it's still just as accurate 39yrs later. Same load.. 55grn IMR4350, Hornady 130grn flat based Interlok. Bullet has been discontinued!!! Fortunately we still have the 150.

Am I sure it was a double charge? No, if I was sure, I wouldn't have pulled the trigger.

But, it was LOUDER & kicked like a mule.
So I am sure something was wrong.

Even though you told them it was a reload they still are replacing the gun? You are living right!:)

Glad it was just the gun and you are OK.
