i wasn't referring to other forums, only this thread. do you see any glock fans freaking out on this thread? i don't.

yeah, we all believe what those gun mag writers have to say, certianly no advertising dollars driving their opinions....

-what does "some dept's have always just favored s&w" mean exactly?

-i don't think i've heard of one dept that adopted the m&p's with the thumb safety.

truth is, dept's are adopting m&p's as they are equal in quality, accuracy, reliability, and offer superior customer service & ergonomics to glock. :)

(the ergonomics thing pertains to most, not all people. despite my small hands i get a better, more secure grip on my g19 than my m&p's.)

If you are suggesting that Mas Ayoob has a bias towards the M&P, from everything I've read from him....he's a pretty darn "Glock-friendly" guy. Very.

Just in case you missed Mas Ayoob's writeup on the M&P, I'll give you the link.

The long and short of it is that even in Mas' later years, he shot his personal best IDPA times with the M&P. Here is his quote:

It’s a good gun, and a good value. Anything letting a wheezy old gunwriter shoot a personal best is something you quicker, sharper shooters will probably appreciate even more than I do. All I know is, I’m buying the test sample and ordering another TKW holster for it …

The reason I asked about 'when' the police had issues with the M&P is because early on, there were some problems....it was like 3 yrs ago. Supposedly, those problems have been addressed.

No one said when. Hopefully, they were issues that have been resolved.

This past summer is when I went through the academy and posted about what I saw.

I bought one over a year ago new for $400...back when you got a $50 rebate in the mail AND 2 free mags 3 months later. It's a great pistol and has not failed once. It is the most comfortable feeling pistol I have ever held.

Wow. I researched my purchase extensively before I bought in Aug 09. They are esp known for being reliable out of the box. Didnt see any recent problems mentioned on that scale at all.

If you really want to see a S&W in action go to You Tube and type in "Julie Galob". She's on S & W's handgun shooting team and has done quite well for herself.

I hanled one at the shop today and he said gusy from our club have really taken to them. Many sending them to Dan for the trigger mod and thrilled. Howevr, a quick Google and all I found was BAD news. LEO having pins pop out, barrels breaking, 4 officer involved shootings in one department, and each time, the gun jammed after the first shot. Two of the officers were then run into by a vehicle. Now there's talk of limp wristing, etc., S&W replacing the broken parts and providing great customer service. But ***! These guys are putting their lives in S&W's hands and these things have no Quality Control.

In fact, one fella wrote that as a LEO, his department recieved flyers from local shops offering various pistols. One shop bragged that he was selling S&W M&Ps that were "police audited". He claimed that S&W had a special QC department reviewing these guns before they left.

I have a Glock 23 in 40 and would rather a 45, with a rail. Glock's 45 doesn't fit me, so I want this S&W. But so far, I'm less than thrilled about getting one.

It is true that Smith and Wesson is selling "Police Audited" weapons as we had one vendor that sells those exclusively in my city. We were told that they had extra QC on these weapons and that it made a difference.
