S&W Model 1950

Great gun, lighter than the M1955 Target gun with all that implies....makes for a better carry piece if you're into N or S frames. My old catalogue shows the 1950 at 39 oz. for the target sighted version, versus 45 oz. for the 1955 Target.

I have the latter, and while it's a fine target gun, the weight precludes carry here on our farm. Accuracy with it is superb...with good handloads and 200 gr H&G's LSWC's, 5.2 gr of 231 will keep a cylinder full inside and inch and a half at 25 yds, rested, with 73 yr old eyes doing the steering.

I load my 1955 using .45 Auto-Rim brass using the same loads put up for my 1911's. The Auto-Rim case make ejection easy, and I don't have to fiddle with those pesky half-moon clips. Starline sells the brass, or possibly, Midway for smaller quantities.

Your pic seems to be of the lighter, Target model and appears to be in good shape...priced right, I'd go for it. HTH's Rod
