With out a doubt 1of the best for that price! I picked up a couple to set back (grandkids)! They may not be glocks ,but they are reliable &accurate & the trigger will smooth out or you can send it back & it will be fixed! Great gun for the price!

Just picked one up the other day for $299 brand new. I haven't even fired it with live ammo yet but I'm pleasantly surprised at how decent it feels being dry-fired. I didn't notice any grittiness in the trigger, and the pull isn't too hard for my tastes. Hopefully this weekend I'll get to a range and be able to cycle something other than snap caps through it.

I have Sigma 9mm and love it. In my opinion the trigger isn't as bad as some say it is.:)
Agreed--IMO it's obviously not a competition piece but the trigger can be worked on (nominal costs--easy instructions available for DYI as well) if it bothers the shooter. For me, I use it solely as a range-gun (though I would not hesitate to use it as my primary CCW or HD) so it's fine as-is out of the box. Still hard to believe I acquired an industry-recognized quality gun like this for $299 total including FFL fee. That price seems to be what I would expect for a used/like-new Sigma 9.

Spend $200 more and get an M&P. I own an M&P45c and it is a flawless pistol. Great guns. :)

While I do love my M&P, it is approaching twice the cost. Depending on the shooter and what they want to do with it, it very well might not be worth the extra money over the Sigma.

I could not have said it better.

My old adage is that if money is no object (more power to you in this day and age), purchase the best of everything as life is too short. Suffice it to say, my situation dictates that I be a "Sigma" kind of guy but I have tremendous admiration for the M&P line.

Not much difference in size, weight, or materials when compared to a g19. I have both and often carry either in the same leather holster. Maybe I got a fluke but I think my s&w shoots slightly more accurate than the g19. If you spend your savings on ammo at the range, then I am certain it will shoot better than the Glock.

Buy the S&W SD I think it's a bit nicer than the sigma. What a nice gun it is. I am impressed with the sd.

IMHO

I own a Sigma 9mm, a M&P9c and a Glock 23 and a full size 1911.

I had a Sigma 40 and traded it in and bought the Glock.

The Glock is my #1 carry gun, followed by the M&P...but the Sigma 9mm I have is great and I love it. It probably feels the best of all in my hand. It has never once failed to shoot and has never had a ftf or any other issue. It is a dependable gun. But I have to say, I personally prefer the Glock trigger overall.

Its all preference. It is a good gun and does not deserve the bad rep that it has.

Shot and cleaned mine today--Had my Nexus S so I thought why not a quick pic:

After watching the u tube video I thought how hard could it be to lighten the trigger. After spending a couple hours looking for the parts I dropped I finally got it back together after removing the pigtail and outer spring. I should have never touched the springs other than the pigtail. I took it out to try it and the little pin that catches the transfer bar come loose and it won't fire. I took it apart again and only spent a half hour trying to find the little parts. I put the sears springs back together and hopefully the tension will keep that little pin from falling out. Too late to shoot today.

Lol - that's a lesson everybody who takes apart a gun learns.

I typically go into the hallway and work sitting on the floor. If anything falls or goes flying its only a very narrow space on a hard floor that it could be in. I also use a magnetized pan to hold things as I remove parts - keeps them close. After a few times you won't worry so much about getting the gun back together :).

Personally, I don't _love_ my 40VE. There are pistols that I do love, but this isn't one of them. Having said that, it's my EDC and I'll probably never get rid of it. It's rugged, feels ok in the hand (with a rubber slip-on grip) and is dead reliable. As for accuracy, I just don't know what to make of it. I'm no competition shooter but I do ok usually. With my sigma things are wierd. If I bench rest it, it shoots consistently low and left. If I take my time with my normal stance and grip, I'm all over the map. If I just point and double-tap I can put all the holes in a less-than-torso-sized group. *scratches head*

The trigger was a bit of an issue for me for sure. I took it apart and did some of the common mods but I haven't tried it at the range yet. Maybe this weekend.

Bottom line, I don't love this gun but I'm glad I bought it.

:)

I've had both and this statement is 100 percent true. The Sigma is a great gun if it meets your needs, and the extra $$ for an M&P might not be worth it.
