Saturday Night Specials?

Ravens are actually decent enough guns. .25 ACP isn't powerful enough to catastrophically destroy the gun. They run pretty reliably as long as you have good mags. They're accurate enough to get all shots on a paper plate at 7 yards. If your definition of "Niggertown Saturday Night Special" is an extremely cheap gun that's still perfectly adequate as a backup or deep concealment piece, a Raven would be perfect.

Another good candidate along those lines would be a 9mm compact Hi-Point. Ugly as an ugly thing and the blowback action makes the recoil pretty bad, but they usually work and come with a no questions asked lifetime warranty if they don't.

To that I say I think more then a few gun companies price their cheap marginaly reliable pistols & revolvers on the plus side of $400 to avoid being a SNS and also to increase their bottom line. BTW there was discussion when the first Glocks came out to include them as SNS(because of their plastic recievers).

To which I must reply, .40S&W glocks can be modified (better chamber support) to withstand .44 magnum loads. Repeatedly. Without exploding. Just use Wolff extra-heavy springs on everything unless you like frame peening. And don't use .44 Magnum loads (even in a well-built .44 magnum) if you love your wrists.

They, the hoplophobes did not care if it could safely contain and shoot a .458 Win Mag, their misguided point was the Glock is made out of PLASTIC (they did not care if it (the polymer) did not melt under a normal flame it was plastic and to them plastic= cheap).

Actually, I think it was actually the dems that ended up changing the wording of the law so polymer is not included. Why? Because poor people can't afford Glocks. End result is that now Hi-Points are made with polymer frames, and Lorcin is making a polymer gun too.
