I just got a new in the box Savage 116 FHSAK in 7mm RM. The bore was nasty so I got out the Hoppe's elite and got it all shiny. Then I noticed barrel is not sitting in the center of the stock on the fore end. So much in fact that there is a large gap on one side and the barrel is nearly touching on the other.
I tried the ole trick of pulling a dollar bill down the barrel to the receiver and it works when there is no weight on the fore end but with just the guns weight on there it drags a little. The stock is nice and tight around the receiver. I loosened the stock bolts and moved the barrel to where it should be but when I tightened them back down it was right back to its original positions... accustock they say huh? pfft ! What should I do?
