Acquired a Savage 24V Series D .223/20.
A couple of questions:
Year of manufacture..Ser # D954161
The stock has 2 pieces missing on each side of the breakdown lever,3-1/2" on the left side, and 2-1/4" on the right side. The trigger guard is busted in the front also. The gun still works.Would it behoove me to replace the stock or leave it as is for value purposes.
If replacing it, has anyone had any experience with Boyd's Hardwood Gunstocks?
A finished walnut stock is $65.00.
Thanks,
Steve (S MS Picker )

S MS. Picker, I have a model 24V with a beautiful walnut stock in .222/20ga., mine is 95% condition, however I doubt using a Boyds stock would reduce the value of it from what you described. Myself I'd get a hold of Numerich and refurbish your Model 24, especially that trigger guard for safety reasons, if for no other.
