Hey everyone, just picked up my Savage MK II BTVS from the gun shop, but the Weaver Quad Locks (1" mediums, if it makes a difference) don't fit the mounting brackets that came on the gun. Any suggestions for an inexpensive pair that will?

Thanks,

MB

Ive got quadlocks on my 17btvss and they fit the weaver bases. How are they not fitting on yourse? cross, bolt to large for the grove? or something else.
As a note the med rings were too short for my 40mm scope t I LIKE the quadlocks, but the leupold riflemans arnt bad, and push come to shove there are always B-squares, or other cheap stuff.

Rings

Sounds like you might have a set of centerfire rings, which are wider than 22 or rimfire rings.

the savage MKII comes with standard weaver bases. you're referring to the 3/8" "tip-off" dovetail that is on a lot of rimfires, but that's not what he has.

no idea why weaver rings won't fit those bases

oops

My mistake fer sure, started not to say anything to start with, guess I'LL JUST KEEP THOUGHTS TO MYSELF As usual, Great place to learn or ask questions, but seem to keep sticking my foot in my mouth, do not like taste of toe jam, so I will go back to lurker mode. Thanks

If you think the rings are right it would be cheaper to buy bases.I changed my Savage factory bases to Weaver #24s.Little higher and I think they fit better. If something not right with your bases new rings might not fit.

The rings don't clamp tightly enough and slide back and forth. I've tried two separate sets so far. From the reviews I've read, some Weaver rings have the same issues. And the bases are normal Weaver style bases.
