I have found a Security Six, SS, 4" barrel, with Pachmayer grips. Owner does not have original grips or box/paperwork. Excellent condition with about 1 box of ammo shot through it. It was kept in a drawer for home defense.

Any idea on the value? He's asking $400

Forgot to add, .357 cal

I used to have one exactly like that. When my ex and I split up I gave it to her for a "house gun."

If I thought she'd sell it, I'd probably give her $400.00 for it. A little high maybe, but I wouldn't let $50.00 stand in the way of getting a gun I wanted.

They're good shooters.

I bought a six inch barreled, stainless model last January, paid $350 for it.
$400 in SoCal wouldn't be out of line if you could even find one for sale! :D

I agree with Cajun,
If you like it don't let $50.00 get in your way....when a decent price on any gun comes along you like ....Buy It!....if it's worth it to you that's what matters, no regrets no worries, just enjoyment every time you pick it up and shoot it....

The 'six' series rugers have gone up in price. Can't even find beat up ones for 250 anymore. If it's really a clean one, I'd buy it. It's worth 400, heck just tell your buddies you traded a mosin and $50 for it.

I tend to agree that you just don't find these laying around. I think $400 is a fair price if the revolver is in good shape. Maybe a tad high without box and papers, but since it's a shooter go for it.

I have a Ruger Security Six 4 inch barrel in stainless with Pachmayr Presentation grips. Its a good shooter and probably the handgun I am most accurate with out of six. If I had to sell it (I don't) $400 would be the price. I'm keeping it.

$400 for a stainless Security Six is not out of line in this part of the world. I might even go $400 on a nice Speed Six in stainless.

I just saw one in the gun store in pristine shape with original walnut grips in SS for $400. Got it for $350+ tax. Saw another at a gun show for $325 and it was abused. Did not buy that one.

I'd JUMP at $400, heck try to talk him down a few bucks, or throw in a sweetener like a box of ammo or two.

The Security Six is wonderful.

If it had the original grips, that would be a good price, even still that is not too bad. Great guns.
