Sell the Sig for an M&P?

I didn't read any of the other replies so it might have already been said but............. don't sell the sig because after 10 years.. it becomes you.. you know it well.. and thats your buddy. Wait some time, save up, and just buy the mp. Its ALMOST like selling your first handgun after that many years. Plus, being the owner of 3 polymer guns, keep atleast one all metal gun. You don't have to use it for carry anymore. It is part of your collection and a nice range gun.... BUT, IF YOU DECIDE TO SELL!, GIVE ME A PM BECAUSE MY NEXT ONE TO GET IS A P229..lol

I just bought an M&P 45 and boy what a shooter, and yes I do know what a shooter is. I also own a G-27, which I carry all the time. The problem is that I can conceal the M&P 45 just as easily and I don't really notice it there, and my G-27 is seeing less carry time. I will by no means sell it like my other 40 guns, because once you sell a particular gun you WILL MISS IT. Never sell guns for other guns unless you are hard up for money. I have sold one gun before to buy another gun and I have missed that gun ever since and will probably buy that gun again if given the chance. NO I WILL NOT TELL WHAT THAT GUN WAS BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE ME SICK ONLY GOD WILL KNOW!

SELL IT IF -

You only have guns for a specific job, not just because you like to collect them. Sounds like you have a new CCW that you like better.

If you need the money now.

KEEP IT BECAUSE -

You'll regret it later. The P229 is a proven platform that will outlive you.

You can use it for a home defense weapon.

If you decide later that you want a P229, you'll never be able to buy a new one for what you'll get for it. You know your gun and you never know what you'll get if you end up buying a used one. You can expect to get anywhere from $400-$500 for it depending on condition.

If you don't need the money now, you can always sell it later if you need the money then. Its like money in the bank that you can have fun with.

Good luck with your decision :)

Don't fall prey to "Gun of the Month" club.

If you do feel like that's taking over your brain, force yourself to put $25 or $50 to the side EVERY time you feel like that. Put it in an envelope labeled "M&P Fund". Once you get enough money in there, buy the gun.

But don't sell that SIG.

After owning 5 plastic guns at one time, I'm now down to one, my G23. My taste has shifted back to steel and alloy framed guns. Plastic is great for carry, but aluminum is not far behind. Keep the Sig:)

I bought a new M&P9c & before I had a chance to shoot it stumbled on a deal for a well used P239-9. Both guns run 100% after 400rds each, Very simular sized guns, the M&P is lighter, slightly shorter at the heal & carries 4 more rounds. The Sig is more accurate & has a much better trigger. The way it shoots promted me to buy a P229 in .40 instead of a M&P40c. Yes it's bigger, but it shoots awesome. If I knew I was going to NEED the gun to defend my life, I'd pick up one of the Sigs over the M&PC everytime.
I vote keep the Sig but I do like my M&P9c, I just don't trust it like I do the Sigs.

It sounds like your Sig is tried and true; I would not sell it and would keep it for many years to come. It's never let you down and you admit you like it, so keep it. In my opinion, it's not worth it to sell for the M&P.

If the M&P is an impulse decision, put away money for it and see how you feel in a month or two. If the feeling is still strong and you want it, continue to save (unless you have enough at that point, then go get it). Trust me, there's a ton of them on the market and they're not going anywhere soon. Once your Sig is gone, it's gone.
