I will be using BM and H322 for 223 for varmint loads and see cabelas has Sellier and bellot small rifle primers about $10 cheaper than cci 400 for a brick. Has anyone used these for rifle? they all work great for my pistol but not sure if they work well for rifle and what I intend to do with them.

I've been using the S&B SRPs with BL-C2 to good effect. No reason to assume your gun will like them, but they appear to be good for me.

Tried the S&B primers over this summer in small and large rifle with assorted powders. They all went bang and I really did not notice any difference between them and CCI primers with .308 Win and .223 Rem. Most post referencing them seemed to be favorable. When Cabela's runs them on sale they get down around $19 per thousand.

A primer is a primer. As long as it's the right type for the application, they all work regardless of brand. On paper I can't tell the difference between a $50 brick of cci benchrest primers or a $20 brick of S&B or Tula. I doubt you could tell the difference either.

No issues here with S&B primers. They're my preferred primer when they're on sale! I've had a few fail to ignite in my daughter's AR-15, but it has aftermarket springs, and I may have had some primers not seated correctly because they all went bang the 2nd time. Soooooooo, all that to say: buy 'em cheap and load 'em up! :)

I have used all the flavors of S&B that they import at various times. All have worked as well as the CCI or Win primers I have also used. I could not tell the difference but only shoot out to 100 YDS as a rule. At longer distances there *might* be a difference but they were all consistent and could be sighted in if needed.

The October issue of Handloader magazine has an article about S&B primers. They test how well they perform against the better known primers CCI,Win,Fed, etc. They tested the same load in 7 or 8 different rifles and in most of the rifles the accuracy was the same or better and velocity change was negligible. In fact they had a 6ppc bench rifle and it shots its smallest group EVER when it used S&B primers.

For me if I need primers and my local Cabela's has them I'll buy them with no worries.

I've used S&B Lg & Small primers in handguns as well as rifles.
I haven't noticed any difference is shooting.

I have noticed a difference in reloading.
With CCI & Win I have zero problems.
With S&B, they like to not seat in the primer cup on my press.
Maybe 5 or so out of 100. Just more of a pain in the butt than anything.
I'll get a couple that turn sideways, even had a couple of 'em turn upside down.
This is priming on a Dillon RL550B.

I have several thousand to try after I run out of wolf. MY only possible concern is that they seem more squared at the top, rather than domed, and I wonder if that will cause issues with flipping when I put them in the primer pickup tubes.....

Shouldn't be any issue because it's the anvils that grab the primer orienting tray and cause the primers to flip over anvil side up. You then can flip them with the other side of your tray.

Edit- or are you talking about them hanging up in the primer pickup tube when you flip it upside down to empty in press?

I mean that after they are flipped an anvil side down, and I start poking at them with the primer pickup tube, i wonder if the more squared off profile will make them harder to pick up, or if they will be more likely to catch an edge on the pickup tube and flip?
