Semi-Auto for Revolver Guys????

There is only one semi-auto for a true revolver guy. Well two really. But since the Webley-Fosbery is going for nigh on $10,000 these days the Mateba is the only fairly reasonable option. Then again, I've seen them listed at about $2500 so they are getting up there as well.

I carried a revolver for 50 years as LEO and afterward. My wife the same for over 40 years.

Last month she started shopping for a replacement for her S&W 642 that hurt an arthritis thumb joint.

She looked at SA Sigs and Colts, din't like the safeties. Looked at a Glock and din't trust the trigger for CCW.

She ended up with a Kahr CW45.. Liked the double action trigger, and softer recoil.

I was so impressed with the little rascal that I bought one 3 days later. Using 1911 Officer Model 7 shot mags we have light, comfortable shooting, easy packing, 8 shot, revolver like trigger, guns that shoot right where you point them.

Having carried N frame S&W revolvers for 50 years, I'm havin' a little trouble keepin' from floating away.;)

The SIG 250 has the most "revolver like" trigger of any that I have owned... and I started out on revolvers long ago.
Additionally, it gives you the option to swap calibers and frame sizes easily.

My own personal "revolver guy semi-auto" has turned out to be a Makarov in .380 ACP (Arsenal, commercial Bulgarian).

I feel I could carry this gun and not really give up very much reliability-wise to my revolvers. Also to me both the platform and general manual of arms are fairly similar. Lastly, it is all steel as most of my revolvers are.

Semi-auto for revolver guys is an apples and oranges thing. Both require different techniques to do the same thing. And different practice and training methods.
However, just like any revolver, a pistol must fit your hand to shoot it well. And, also like a revolver, they need a trigger job out of the box.
So go to your local shop and try a few on for size, then buy the one that speaks to you.

Just a suggestion as you did not name a caliber but look at and shoot a S&W 4586 before you buy anything. One of the better handgun buys available "used" IMO.

I have revolvers, but prefer the 1911 Nothing like a 1911 trigger.
S&W 1911 5" / Colt Commander / SA Range Officer Compact
which all seem from what the O.P. has stated would be a reach
budget wise.

I also have a CZ 75B 9x19 14+1 - having the option of Condition One
is a plus, though I usually manually drop the hammer for a DA first shot.
Cast Steel frame & slide, hammer forged barrel. the curve of the
backstrap fits my hand & it's uber reliable & accurate..
MIne was just over $ 500 so it should be on your
short list

FWIW - the CZ 75B may look in appearance to have a
resemblance to the Browning Hi Power, however, except
the tilting barrel lockup and high cap. mag. that's about
it. The triggers are completly different in design, and
the 75B reverse slide / rails relationship - has a lineage
with the famed Sig P210.

I also like my revolvers and have the NY1 on my Glocks along with a minus connector. It makes a very nice trigger more similar to a revolver.

Post 54 - Iggy. I agree. I first shot with a Ruger P345 and cocked the hammer for the first shot for targets but didn't for defensive drills. I'm reasonably accurate with it out to 25 yards. I wanted an easier daily carry and got a used LNIB PM45 for ~$400. It's DA but smooth and I'm more accurate with it. More recoil but certainly manageable. It got polished extensively and now is my CC daily carry. I've shot .44 mag, .357 mag, .41 mag and .38 spcl from revolvers and don't do badly but my semi autos are what I bought.
