Semi-automatic "machine gun" clones??

artherd, I wasn't addressing the legality of the belt, but you cannot buy or assemble a gun based on an AR-15 that accepts "hi-caps" after 2001. Maybe you can find someone to sell you a shrike (good luck with the way that they like to intimidate dealers), but as soon as you put it on a lower, even the dpms or fab-10, it's illegal.

I belive you're simply mistaken.

What statute would exactly prevent me from having a DMPS lower, pistol grip removed, with a Shrike upper?

The "AR-15 series" has been banned for a while, but that 'series' is a HARD AND DEFINED list, it is NOT a neblous 'anything that looks like an AR'. (however, the CA AG wants you to think anything that looks like an AR is explicetly banned, he uses careful language to lead us to belive that is the case.

Infact, the "AR and AK Series" was spelled out HARD in 12276.(e)

The assembled firearm would then be a:

"Semi-automatic, detachable-magazine, centerfire rifle"

However, it would have no additional 'assault' features. (after I remove the pistol grip.)

It does not meet Catagory 1 criteria (not one of the banned by name rifles)
It does not meet Catagory 2 criteria (not one of the list of banned rifles in the defined 'AR and AK series'
It does not meet Catagory 3 criteria because it does not have any additional 'assault features'.

Therefore, it ain't an Assault Weapon, and rather just a regular rifle.

Yes, getting my hands on a Shrike will be more difficult than going to Wal-Mart, however if you want to talk me out of something because you think it's hard, that's fine.

They have to first produce the Shrike, then I need to find a distributor with the nuggins to ship into the PRK, and THEN I have to find a FFL that is willing to do a perfectly legal firearms transaction. (one that might however seem a little high-risk to the rightfully paranoid remaining FFLs.)

Thanks for the link Third_Rail! I noticed the large multi-colored warning message on their homepage, "CALIFORNIA IS AT IT AGAIN! BY YEAR'S END, FREE AMERICANS WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO PURCHASE 50 CALS IN CALIFORNIA". Not my words, just noting a quote. It's things like this that find their way into Federal law making. Which is why I'm so down on the "lawmakers" of California. I've seen my past-time getting more and more expensive because of "them". I sold an H&K 94A3 a few months before the first 1980's ban, thinking that I'd just pick up another one a few months down the line. I never knew that there was a ban coming. Then BOOM, overnight, the prices on H&K's (and other such toys) went through the roof and just kept right on rising up to heaven. At least I knew when the second 1990's ban was coming, I bought an H&K SP89 just in time. I sold it a few months later because it was not a very practical weapon. But at least I didn't take a bath that time out. But the second ban found its roots in, where else, California. As California goes...so goes the nation. It's Kali's reps in D.C. who are so very instrumental in stepping on our rights as law abiding gun owners. This from a state with more prisons than most other states in the Union. And they just keep on building them. So I simply question the priorities and logic of those "law makers". Guns don't commit crimes. Cars and alcohol are still quite legal yet thousands of people are killed each year by drunk drivers. That being said, I'll return to my normal self and get down off of this soap box. I know that I'm only preaching to the choir. For now on, I'm back to normal.

Well, after taking a CLOSE look at the prices of .50BMG ammunition and the rifle itself, I'll be buying a 1919A6 from them, it's a hell of a lot cheaper... so is the ammunition, even if I can only get FMJ, not AP or tracer, or anything. Ah well, I've never really seen anything fun in 30-06 anyway.

lowammo- there was an attempt at a .50cal ban, but it got shot down by the people left in CA still fighting! Ronnie Barrett in particuliar has refused to sell or service LAPD's .50cals after they let the press parade one around as a 'deadly terrorist assault gun' or some bull????.

There may be other bans coming down the pipe however.

That web page is alarmist, and just trying to sell you a rifle.

Now, I'm not saying I'm doing anything but saving up for a Barrett (which we still can't have withought removing the damn pistol grip, bastards!) M82A1.

As far as I am concerned, the 2nd ammendment gives me the right to own everything pollice officers (and possibily military personel) have.

I consider any law that prevents that as unconstitutional in the highest regard.

For a Com-Bloc twist, I believe that I saw an RPD/RPK semi-auto (belt in drum) in Shotgun News for about $3500. Anyone see that?

So there are fun rounds for 30-06.... now, are you saying just the bullets, as in for reloading, or the completed rounds?

Oh yeah!

I only know of Raufoss ammunition produced for .50BMG guns.

I also only know of AP and API, not API(t) (all that, with tracer) ammunition.

I think that guy's probally BS-ing.

Standard AP, and the rarer API, and plain-ball-tracer, should be available.

Anyone know if the uber-fun-junk above is really a hoax? I'd like to be proved wrong.
