Oohrah Welcome my brother. Looks like I might be one of the older
Corps. While in high school joined MCR at age 17, Nov, 57. Boot
MCRD in June of 58 Released from active duty Nov 65. 5th ReCon.
A member of the Marine Corps League for 15 years to the present.
ONCE A MARINE...ALWAYS A MARINE:D :D :D

Savor the flavor my friend you only get to take this ride once. Put yoru heart in soul into it and you will be rewarded. And think long and hard before you leave her. The Marine Corps is like a nagging girlfriend that is dynamite in bed. You always keep thinking you should leave her but after you do you realize you had all your best times when you were with her and the rest just isn't quite as good.

Semper Fi brother. I am proud of you and you should be proud of yourself.

Don't feel bad about he pizza box brother. I graduated with one and i got out of the Marines Corps four years later with a fifth award expert on pistol AND rifle. I could only wear 4th award on my uniform but it made for an impressive display. I was an MP and a lot of guys were jealous because they never got to qualify with the pistol and I had the two matching fourth award expert badges.

Glad to see you made it!

I did PI back in June-Aug of 1969 and I doubt if it's changed much.

My DI's were: 1 father figure, 1 big brother figure, and 1 real mean sob. I think that's all by design of course.

You're starting a whole new life and you'll discover the old adage: "Once a Marine, always a Marine!"

Semper Fi.

Congratulations! I did my 4 in the Air Force, but I think I know how you are feeling right now. May God be with you in all your endeavors.

God Bless you Breakdaddy for your service, but graduating Air Force basic is not quite the same. I did my LE training at Laackland Air Force Base. Your basic is MUCH shorter, and I hate to say, easy. Marine Corps basic is a whole different animal. When I went to the eclub at Laackland I would see recruits there. They got to go out on the weekends?!?!?! Most of them I talked to said the most challenging thing about basic was folding their t-shirts properly. There PT consisted of a few jumping jacks and about 5 minutes worth of running on the parade deck! (The commander of the Air Force recruit station used to complain about us doing "boots and utes" runs because he felt it intimidated and demoralized the Air Force recruits.) While the Air Force is perfectly honorable, completing Marine Corps basic is something truly unique and special. God bless all the Marines for what they have done and for what they do every day.

My platoon at MCRD San Diego started with 144 recruits. We graduated with 84. That included about a half dozen guys we picked up who had washed out from previous platoons. One of the guys in my platoon nearly died when we were about three miles into a hump. We had just scaled MT. M*** F*** and had been humping on the beach in ankle deep sand when his body temperature climbed to about 105. He dropped out and his heart stopped. Thankfully he survived. Coincidentally, he had 8 years in the Air Force before coming to the Marines. He was a really nice guy when I new him. He still graduated with the platoon so I give him a lot of credit. Please don't take my comments on the Air Force the wrong way. Its just that you have no idea now our young guy feels unless you have been in his shoes. God BLess all of those you have been and God Bless everyone who has given their service to our country!!!

Congratulations, I have to wait till I graduate from the big school before I can enlist. I have always wanted to be a Marine tanker or scout.

Thank you for your service and sacrifices, Accord.

My family and I sleep well knowing men like you guard the walls for us.

Congrats, brother.

I'm sure that by now you are either getting ready to go to, or are already in the sandbox.

I hope that you already a LCpl by now! At work I will find myself muttering little phrases like "...clear tip of the front sight post..." I remember some of the 'diddies' that we came up with to remember rifle and drill manual.

Stay sharp and stay safe.

Congrats, someone else to watch the wall. Thank you for your service. I was with 2nd Bat 2nd Div next door on LeJeune for the last part of my stretch. I hope you got your landing gear, get all your Recs done in the first couple of months, you pick up quicker that way.
Have fun in the sand box, and watch your six.
