Setback, the wife STILL doesn't get it.

But having a firearm handy for personal defense.....just NOT a part of her thinking at all.
Well, if she isn't willing to use one for defense, whether it be because she isn't comfortable with her level of competency, or whether she doubts she could actually shoot someone, then she shouldn't have it. No sense in arming the bad guy. Besides, as stated before, most BGs aren't going to stick around to find out if the 50 pound dog is a wuss or not. He barks doesn't he? BGs always go for the target of least resistance.

So Z, let me get this straight. You are upset with your wife for not thinking she needed to go get her gun and load it up, but you were comfortable with leaving her alone in the house while you go hide out in your man cave, isolated from the potential screams of your wife, knowing full well that there is...

Oh Good God. Confirmation of two sexual assaults, the search headed towards our house,

Why would you be isolated from your wife during such a time? Given the circumstances, you would both be better off being together than being separated.

What were you thinking? You are upset that your wife didn't think to grab a gun, but you didn't think you needed to stay with her either even though some degenerate is heading toward YOUR house.

Think about it.

Any trouble headed into our house from the golf course would have to pass the "man cave" or the back 1/4 of our property (unless the perp had mountain climbing equipment). The "man cave" has a commanding view of all of our property (unlike the house which has a blind side). My intent was to go back out and keep an overall eye on things.

'course you wouldn't know that if you didn't know my property so I can certainly forgive the assumptions.

You have a similar problem as the one I have with my GF (we won't even get into the mother :banghead:). And I couldn't help noticing that she had been grading papers at the time. One of the things that conserns me about teachers is that a good portion of them are very liberal and won't keep their own opinions to themselves. They seem to let their opinion slip into the minds of their students. I am not speaking of your wife of course just some teachers that I have come in contact with. She may be slightly influenced by a coworker or coworkers that may make firearms taboo. Some women are often not aggressive enough by nature to feel like they need to use force for protection and being protected was probably good enough for her in your situation.

As far as my GF I have got her shooting with me occassionally and it was her idea to do so. So I am getting through to her slowly. By not forcing firearms on her and making it her decision has helped me I think.
