Put together my very first batch of 41 magnum loads and finally got a chance to shoot them.
Missouri Bullets 215 LSWC's over 15.5grs of 2400. Using a S&W Model 57 with a 6" barrel. I don't have my chronograph yet but a good guess on this load is somewhere around 1050-1200fps.
Looks like I picked a good one right out of the gate. Got zeroed in at 25 yards off the bench and then took it out to 50. It was dead on at fifty so we eyeballed a big rock at approximately 75 yards. Right on target. So my buddy says, "lets go try hitting the gong on the rifle range at 100 yards".
Walk over to the rifle range, load a few rounds in and take aim at the dinner sized plate hanging out at the 100 yard line. Standing unsupported I take aim......."gong" goes the plate as it swings around. I couldn't believe I had hit it on my first try! I had aimed right at it.....maybe just a hair below dead center. (My 25 yard zero was a 6:00 hold). At that range my front sight nearly filled the target. Ended up hitting it three out of six with the others just missing. All would have been kill zone on a deer.
For the heck of it I took a shot at another computer mouse sized rock at about 10-15 yards just to see where it would hit at that range. 6:00 hold took a piece right off the top of the rock.
Amazing "kill zone" range with this load.......15-100 yards with 6:00 to dead center aim.
I am SOLD on 41 Magnum!
