Gilbert Arenas lives down the street from me, he likes his guns but apparently isn't well informed re: DC gun laws.....

I wasn't at a range and the topic of firearms wasn't broached, but I was cc'ing my .38 when I got to shake hands with Tim Allen at a car auction some years ago.

There is youtube video of Conan O'Brien hanging out with Hunter S. Thompson shooting class III firearms and drinking burbon. I would loved to have been a part of that.

I understand Donald Bellisario (creator of Magnum P.I., NCIS, etc) trained in the Marines with Lee Harvey Oswald. It's nice when the Marines can bring future famous people together on the firing range.

Nearly shot with Charleton Heston and G. W. Bush (43).....but at the last minute it didn't work out. Heston was working on a film at the time and his movie contract prohibited him from using firearms, so he watched. GWB was scheduled to shoot at a sporting clays event, but was forced to watch. Karl Rove was running his campaign and wouldn't allow GWB to hold any firearms around the press, didn't want to give his opposition photos that could be used against him in the election....didn't make sense at the time but in hindsight it was a wise decision.

Have had the privilege to shoot with the following:
Sen Phil Graham (Tx) (Sporting Clays)
Ron Scheer (Great American Outdoors Host) (Sporting Clays)
Kim Rhode (Olympic shotgunner) (Skeet)
Haley Dunn (Olympic shotgunner) (Trap)
Kayne Robinson (Former NRA Pres.) (Sporting Clays)
The late Joe Bowman (Handgun trick shooter) (Handguns)

i shot with Berit Aagaard, the late Finn Aagaard's wife at a big bore shoot last april. the little old lady can shoot, she was shooting a right handed win.70 in 375H&H left handed faster than most of us could shoot right handed

Wow I am out of the loop up here. There are lots of famous individuals on MDI and in 30 years that I have lived here I have never been able to weasel my way into doing any such thing. Did spend a pleasant afternoon drinking some beers with Paul Newman back in the late 80's in Southwest Harbor however. He was really down to earth and a great guy.

Old and in the way ...

Standing in line at the grocery store checkout this evening, it occurred to me that I don't even know what a famous person is anymore. Out of the dozens of names that were plastered all over the magazines on display---famous movie stars, singers, and entertainers---I didn't recognize any.

I guess that makes me old and out-of-the-loop. :) Or maybe I need to get out of the house more.

I envy anyone to meet R. Lee Ermy hes one of my personal heroes

No biggie, he lives in my town. He's always at the local gun shops. I have his autograph that says: "What's your major malfunction?"

Thanx, Russ

When I was in High School and worked for Oak Tree Gun Club, I pulled skeet for actor Dub Taylor a few times. Real nice guy and very polite. Tipped well too. What impressed me the most was the time he was waiting to shoot his round- already paid for- and his wife came to pick him up. He asked simply to shoot at two birds- one for each barrel, which was ok with every one there, then packed up and went with his wife. Very respectful of his wife and didn't make her wait at all. He had a very pretty little .410 side by side that he shot

I mean I'd love to go shooting with Rosie O'Donnell. Sorry, my backspace is broken :)

Good ole Dub, he's gone now. Are you sure about the 410 gauge, he usually shot a 28 gauge mostly Parkers?

Thanx, Russ

I shot several times with the guy who won second place in the Navy Cup Match at Camp Perry one year in the early 60's.

He was my dad. :D

Does Ken Hackathorn count?? He shoots at the range I belong to most Sundays and even sometimes designs and runs IDPA stages for our club. A couple years ago Ken was working a bunch of people thru a "house" of made of barrels. He let them use his body armor and made the comment "If you were paying for this it would run you about $600.00".

I'm not absolutely sure Dub Taylor was using a .410. The side by side he used was very small with slender barrels and looked to me it was a .410. It could have been a 28 ga. I never asked him though

It was one of the prettiest side by sides I've seen

Talked guns with a man over breakfast in the Dallas Fort Worth Holliday Inn when I was 13 he kept telling me he was Eddie Van Halen. I didnt know who he was until highschool. Guess thats the price you pay when you live in the sticks with 2 tv channels and 3 radio stations on the tractor. He took pitty on me and gave me his autograph on a holidome napkin.

Rover Raglin, he has a hunting show on The Outdoor Channel. He seems like a genuinely kind and friendly man.
