so shot 2015 is over, and every year I try and scour the info coming out of it for anything that just wowed me, and this year, I'm pretty disappointed. There was the usual glut of ar parts and accessories, but this year seemed pretty much just variations on existing themes. Take smith & wesson for example, they offered their guns in 2 new colors. wooooo.

Benelli has an O/U now that looks neat, the kriss vector in 9 might be fun, same with angstad, stag, and whoever else released a 9mm AR. palmetto will be making an ak, LWRC has a 45acp subgun, some new silencers hit the market, but they're still expensive, and sig had a few offerings that were new (a pistol and the mcx). Magpul is branching out from AR's, and keltec gave the sub2k a facelift, and weatherby is now importing an inertia shotgun, and that's about all I remember.

What about you? did you see anything cool? anything you are rushing to buy? something revolutionary? I just kind of feel the past couple of years everybody was just trying to push out as many guns as they could and didn't really bother with developing any new products.

I've always been a fan of AK's and there are a lot of new domestic manufacturers joining the market. That is really exciting since maybe we'll get a US-made AK immune from import restrictions.

Also, there was a redhead at the PSA booth...

I was thinking about starting the same type of thread. Nothing that I "gotta have" this year. Although.....those US made AKs.....mmmmm.......

But seriously, for me at least, yawn....

I try not to get excited over new stuff at SHOT show. I really had my sights and hopes on the R51 last year and that was a colossal failure. So I will wait until some firearms have a track record for a bit.

Arsenal Firearms Strike One semiautomatic pistol the IWI Galil Ace and one of those limited edition Colt 1903s.

I've found out the hard way that when something "new" is on the market, it's best to wait a couple of years until it's in the hands of mainstream folks - like those at THR and other forums, NOT the gun rags!!! - who will post their candid reviews.

Wasn't at shot show but saw lots of the announcements

The Trijicon spotting scope and binos have me excited

The entire MagPul line up is looking stronger and more exciting than ever (could've done a whole thread on it alone)

Vortex seemed to be using 2015 to flesh out their product lines which I love (affordable MRDs, entry level 1-6x scope, etc)

I think the Leatherman Wearable Multitool is what I've heard the most chatter about

Not the most exciting show but still some good stuff to look forward to this year

I really like the CZ evo, though I think it was announced before. I also think magpuls announcements were pretty big as well, showing a large expansion of their product line.

As one who doesn't own a semi-auto centerfire yet, I am interested in the Colt LE6920 OEM and OEM2 models. Seems to offer me the right mix of customization and confidence in a build for a first time buyer not ready to invest in assembly tooling yet.

I was a little underwhelmed. I was hoping for more new pistol designs or upgrades. Most of what I saw on live coverage websites was a HUGE array of AR-15 rifles, parts, suppressers, etc. Boring.

Also, being a Beretta fan, I had been following their teases in the days leading up to the show about new pistols being announced. It turns out their big pistol reveal was a $3,000 safe queen model 92 single-action only with steel frame in deep blued finish called the "Centennial". Only 500 are being produced. Then there were the handful of hand engraved 92FS models that will fetch an even higher cost, I imagine. The 92G-SD, Wilson Combat 92G Brigadier Tactical, M9A3 and 92 Vertec models are awesome and they were there, but they'd already been announced in various places around the internet in the weeks leading up to SHOT.

One thing I did not know was coming, and am interested to try out is the new Ruger LCP Custom. It has real sights, a wide skeletonized aluminum trigger, stainless steel guide rod, and shorter lighter smoother trigger pull. If they'd made the trigger black (instead of bright red), and the front sight had a real tritium dot in it (not a cheesy GITD painted dot), I'd give it very serious thought.

And although many people knew the Sig 220 chambered in 10mm was coming, it was cool to see some reviews and range reports from SHOT.

Everything else looked like the same old stuff. ARs, tactical bolt guns, suppressors, $400 backpacks, etc.

Also didn't hear about the savage scout! Is this a new model and if so where is there more info?

It appears to be an update of the scout rifle they discontinued a few years ago. This new one appears to have the same sights and scout rail as the old model. It's based on the Model 11- the older version was a Model 10 (difference is barrel profile- the Model 11 is a lighter profile).

Other differences:

The new version is in a tan Accustock. The old version was a black, not very good plastic stock.
New version has 10rd detachable box magazine. Old version was 4rd DBM.
New version weighs 7.8lbs empty, no optics. Old version was 6.65lbs empty, no optics.
New version has 18" barrel with threaded muzzle brake. Old version had 20.5" barrel, no muzzle threads.
New version stock has LOP spacers and adjustable cheek riser. Old version had fixed LOP, no riser.
New version has 3rd sling swivel for Ching sling. Old version had only two swivels.
New version has front sight protected by wings, à la AR15 sight. Old version had unprotected brass bead.
New model is in .308win only (so far). Old model was .308win, or 7.62x39.

Magpul Glock magazines. Though I'm more interested in the 15 round 9mm that most expect to follow at a later date.

Sand colored Magpul Gen3 window'd PMAGs.

Fortunately these items will be easy on the wallet.
