The other day I posted a thread asking for reviews about the Taurus 24/7 since my Brother was considering buying one. Well he picked up the .40 yesterday and brought it right over.
He got the stainless model and paid $360.00 including tax. The pistol came with a cable lock, two keys, and two fifteen round mags. It's quite nice. We shot several pistols along with the 24/7 for a bit of comparison and of course, just for fun. We had a Ruger SP101 in .357 mag, Ruger P95 9mm, Glock 23, a Springfield 1911 and the Taurus. The Taurus ran like a champ and was enjoyable to shoot. We shot only Federal American Eagle out of it so far. The recoil was snappy with the .40 and the grip was very comfortable and stable with the ergonomic rubber design. The accuracy wasn't measured much as we didn't put rounds on paper with it yet.......we mainly used reactionary type targets like cans, an old water tank and cinder blocks. We'll put more rounds through it this weekend and see what the accuracy is like. The one thing that I didn't like much at all was the long trigger pull. The trigger felt spongy and for my grip it was just a tad too long. I felt like my trigger finger was nearly back to the grip by the time the round went off. My Glock is much shorter and when I switched from the Taurus to the Glock I was surprised by the extreme difference. A very nice feature of the Taurus is the chamber indicator. It's useful and so far seems practical. It's no big deal, but if I could tweak part of the Taurus design, I would have made the thumb safety a tad larger.
All in all...........the Taurus would be a pistol that I would look into purchasing. I'm a 1911 and Glock fan (I know, kind of a multiple personality syndrome) but the Taurus would be something I would spend my money on. It seems like it's a nice model........so far. My Brother is happy with it and it just might become his primary carry weapon. He is currently actively seeking out some quality leather for it.
