Thinking of selling my M&P40c & Ruger MK III. Have been carrying my XD9SC lately & the MK never gets used.

If I did sell them, I would replace them with a RIA 1911, Springfield 1911 (If I found a killer deal), Glock 19, 26 or 27.

I used to have a couple G19s & a RIA 1911. Silly me for selling them apparently.

Think I should stand pat & just add the others as I can or sell & replace? Feel free to suggest something else, but I am only interested in semi-autos. No DA like the CZ-75. Had 1 of those too & didn't like it.

There are very few firearms that I didn't eventually (or at some particular time) regret. I sold them to "get approval" for something new from the boss.

If it's something you don't like or can't see yourself missing, go for it as other might enjoy them more. Otherwise, squirrel it away somewhere and you'll probably be thankful you did in the future.

I'm curious though... why are you selling the M&P? That's something I'm looking to purchase in the near future.

Never sell any gun! Thats the job for a trained professional, if you can't find one a gun dealer will work.

Um, and I hope the above is pure satire, if so you forgot you smirky face...

Now where did we put that "I want it back" thread, wait, I think it's over in general, go read a few pages and then ask yourself, do I really want to post over there that badly...

They aren't exactly collector items, few pistols are these days. If you don't shoot them, they are just a resource, or a paper weight. Sell them, and get a pistol you will shoot. I trade/sell all the time, to me if I do not use it, it's just a commodity to be used to get another pistol or rifle. I only miss 1 pistol a S&W model 39-2, the other 12 or so I barely remember.

Selling a firearm is pretty much always a losing proposition for me (financially), so I only sell when it's something I'm absolutely sure I'm not going to want/need/use in the future... and even then, I can think of one or two that I wouldn't mind having back.

Not trying to pick a fight, but I never liked firearms being referred to as "toys." This term, to me, imparts less respect than firearms need to be afforded given their intended purpose.

Snowdog,

I just got it back from S&W for a refinish on the slide after it started to rust less than 1 year into ownership. I'm still on the fence as it has never given me any problems w/function.

I sold most of my collection of firearms over the last month (lost my job and bills needed to be paid). While I hated to let them go, I really had no choice. Once I find work I can again begin to build up the collection - this time I'll work on quality versus quantity. It was tough.

Buying, selling, swapping, and trading has allowed me to own and use so many more firearms than I ordinarily would have been able to acquire. Though it can be true (but not always) that selling a gun will result in lost money, I'd rather lose a little bit than to have several hundred dollars tied up in an object that I don't use or like. Some guys act like all their guns are sacred items that are never to be parted with. They're not--they're only objects. Do with them as you please and use your resources to your greatest utility.

One final thing here. If you're soliciting advice about whether you should sell something, and then asking what items you might get instead, I'm thinking you're not too clear on what you want or can use. You need to make up your own mind. Buying or selling something on someone else's recommendation is a recipe for buyer's or seller's remorse.

I always sell the guns I don't like to get one I really want. I have now ended up with guns that I all like and do not want to get rid off. The last 4-5 purchases were all traded in for guns I was not completely satisfied with.

I thought quantity was the road to take when the obama scare happened but i started to sell off the guns i didn't use or didn't appeal i guess so like stated above i'm slowly switching to quality over quantity.
