SHTF Choice (1 only)

I'd feel pretty good with either of my handguns... my CZ-75b or my XD-9 SC. They are both reliable and straight shooters. Of course I'd rather have my Norinco 982 in a SHTF scenario...

A Deagle. Haven't any of you ever played counter-strike? It's the best gun ever made EVER.

Kills tanks with one shot with depleted uranium rounds.

I'd put the 10" barrel on it and a 100x magnification scope so I could use it to snipe targets from 4 miles away.

I can convert it to 357, 44, and 50 in two seconds flat.

Rounds fired from a Deagle are actually heat seeking so you don't even have to aim. (helpful for shooting through thick foliage)

Ah, how I love the SHTF threads.

While my heart wants my S&W model 13 or 625 in 45 Colt (or any number of a long list of revolvers) is has to be the Glock 20. Best combo of knockdown power, firepower, and reliability in a handgun bar none, and I am NOT a Glock fan in any way shape or form. Only drawback is ammo availability. If I must consider ammo availability in the USA any modern high capacity service 45 ACP, outside of the USA a 9mm. (Glock, Springfield, S&W, Sig, blah, blah, blah…they are all about the same and not a 10mm!). Oh and I want one of those Deagle guns.

Being realistic just about any high quality double action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, or .44 Magnum. I would also consider a revolver chambered in 10mm or .45 ACP as well as long as I had access to plenty of full moon clips.

Barrel length between 4" and 6". Preferably a 5" barrel.

It would be a tough choice between my Kimber Stainless II and my Glock 19. Kimber for knockdown power and accuracy. Glock for reliability and volume. But...I did hear that if you get the crimson trace grips for the Deagle, the bullet will follow the beam into the target, even if you move it while the bullet's in flight!

The bullet tracks onto the laser beam designator and follows it down sorta like how smart bombs do it. However, the problem is you have to hold the laser beam on target to "light" it up for the radar to pick up the reflections.

well I wanted to get the laser designation device for my Deagle but it wouldn't fit once I had installed the belt feed mechanism.

Did I mention my Deagle was belt fed? Oh.... and it shoots Deagles.

That's right. I have a belt fed Deagle sniper-rifle that actually uses smaller Deagles as bullets. :neener:

You Deagle is belt-fed? Mine is single shot... but each shot destroys 4 city blocks... so I am fine with the slow reloadability since it will take a while for the enemies to recover to get within reach again.

Any quality handgun in the service class will do but I'd rather have a rifle in the described situation.

I think I would go with a Glock 17. Its not my FAVORITE handgun by far but its a tough, reliable weapon that is plentiful enough that if God forbid it did break I would be likely to find one somewhere to replace or repair it. You can also buy mags and accessories cheaply to set your self up with a good kit.

Give me a good handy carbine over a handgun anyday... that is true.

Yup.

So, I'll continue to carry my CZ P01

Whilst I make my way to my CZ VZ 58.

Medusa revolver with a 4" barrel, can fire .380, 38 super, 9mm, 38 special, .357 magnum, and a bunch of other rounds. It's also about the most durable revolver you could get.

You get one trip to an armory to pick the one handgun that you will immediately have to protect yourself. There won't be any time to break the gun in or tune it up or send it back to the factory for repair. This isn't about looks or ego. This gun you have to grab and go with.

FORGET THAT!!! I'm double fistin' it!

Also if it is an armory I am sure they have rifles, that is what I would go for.

Also ALSO, why another SHTF?

You guys are wimps, I carry this 8 Gauge loaded with alternating thermobaric explosive rounds and semtex shaped charges.

And this "Death star" anti-planetary beam for when whole civilizations piss me off.

Thermobaric charges are great but I prefer the Hyperbaric chamber which puts your victim into a state of hibernation where they are subjected to highly enriched air filled with oxygen so when they come out, they are so rejuvenated and refreshed that they won't want to fight because it's a waste of their newfound youth!
