SHTF Choice (1 only)

The only logical choice is a revolver:
shot cartridges, flares, and defensive ammo. That's why Navy pilots carried revolvers, hard to shoot a flare from a 1911A1!

I did not read every post so someone may have said what I am about to say.

1) Oh No!!! Not another SHTF thread!!!:D
2) If it is a SHTF moment (i.e. a temporary breakdown in the Rule of Law) I will NOT be going for a handgun.:scrutiny:

But if I were to stick to your scenario, I would get a Sig P226 in .40 S&W with about ten Mec-Gar 15 round mags.

smith and wesson 4006. reliable, and seeing as how no worry about open carry the added weight will help with accuracy.

AK-47 or M-16? Or maybe a Kel-Tec Sub-2000 if I need to hide it. Pistols are for before the SHTF, once it's hit, I want a rifle. If I have to take a pistol, I guess I'd take the Glock 34, less chance of an operator error by my non-professional(as is I don't get shot at often) self.

This is difficult for me as I love revolvers. That said, I would take my Star MOD 30MI. It's built like a tank (all heavy steel,) holds 15+1 rounds of 9MM and it has never jammed on me once.

But, if this wasn't a handgun thread, I go for a utility rifle. My Paratrooper SKS is rugged, handy & simple enough to keep functional without any outside support.
