I had this weird dream last Thurs., and it's been rattling around in my head since then because it was so realistic and there were some lessons I learned.

Ok, here goes....

Soooo I'm at a Chinese restaurant with an all you can eat buffet. I'm going back for the third helping. I don't know why it's the third helping because that's where the dream starts and I don't remember eating the first two. And as I'm shoveling the food on my plate at the buffet, from across the room I hear and see that an elderly Chinese lady had started yelling at some kid (her grandkid whatever) because he was wearing gloves. I looked at the kid (probably about 13-14) and he's wearing those clear plastic gloves....I don't get it.....

....anyways.... I come back to my table and notice some guy is standing there eating candies like M&M's or something off of one of my dirty plates. I yell at him, "WTH are you doing?" And he just walks away without even looking at me. It was double weird though because I don't even like candy. So I turn my attention to the food, but before I've seated I hear, "Drop the gun" - (and then something untintelligable like "this is a robbery", but I'm not sure what it was actually). My heart kind of skipped a beat and I knew I wasn't printing. It came from behind and my head snapped around. There's an Asian dude standing in between the two side by side entrance doors and he had what looked like a S&W model 10 in his right hand with his arm relaxed and the gun pointed towards the ceiling. He was looking back out through the doorways and at about 4 older ladies who were entering the restaurant, but they had no clue anything was going on and they were gabbing with each other. He just stood there and then continued looking out the door as they came in.

The Asian guy had not even looked at me once that I could tell and as I was facing him I moved to my right and I ducked behind the wall that was running towards me so I was out of view. As I was doing that I rifled into my pocket and got my .32 out after a couple seconds of fumbling. (My pocket holster is a little too big for my .32) I looked around for a second and didn't notice any accomplices in the restaurant and everyone was quiet, some eating, others wondering *** is going on. I then pointed the gun around the corner sideways (ghetto style, but with my head sideways as well using the sights) and noticed the guy was STILL looking out the doorways. So something about his demeanor caused me to hesitate and I ducked back around the corner. And that's where the dream ended. Arg!

A few things I realized from the dream are:

Now thinking back I don't know if it was an attempted robbery or something else going on....I guess I'll never know unless I have deja vu someday :uhoh:

The Asian guy had basically appeared out of nowhere behind me, because I was too busy being angry and preoccupied thinking and worrying about some idiot which had the temporary effect of putting me in condition white. I guess if anyone wants to surprise me, create a diversion, it worked in the dream.

I also realized once again that I need to get a pocket holster than fits the gun and once AGAIN realized that pocket carry is convenient, but sucks when the S really HTF. Sometimes I even carry that way unchambered, but in my dream my gun was chambered.

I also realized that I had almost zero faith in the .32ACP round and I was even thinking to myself in the dream, "I sure wish I had that Kahr MK9 Elite 2003 with some 124gr. NATO FMJ or 127gr. +P+ Rangers!!!!, instead of this .32ACP Autauga with 60gr. Winchester Silvertips!!!! :banghead: "

Who says you never learn anything from dreams, eh? :)

Any suggestions from anybody? Anything I did wrong? What did I do right?

Another 'Asian' nudging this thread along...

:)

I don't look anything like you Skunky...
Or do I?

^^^ Eh, I haven't seen that movie in many years, I can't remember what you're talking about.

I got a question for anybody who carries a small gun.

Do you ever ask yourself, "why do I bother?"

In the dream I was thinking to myself of putting the gun away and just grabbing the guy.

Do you ever ask yourself, "why do I bother?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I only ask that to people who carry big guns with extra mags and a back up....to go to Walmart on a sunny sunday...

Us tactical lightweight carry slimline skunks need the Beretta, extra mag, S&W, Strider, SureFire and Fox Labs to keep us anchored to the ground :D

Horge, I probably look like you...I get people asking me if I'm Filipino....

So you are saying that an Asian guy told you to buy a Kahr MK9 Elite in a dream? Then what are you waiting for, go out and get one! :p

ROTFLMAO!

I'm sure by now you must've been PM'ed with some clever and mildly obscene replies to that question, Wonder Nine!

I tend towards "pocket mouse gun plus bigger truck gun" carry myself.

I dreamed about SHTF in a Chinese restaurant.

I was eating dim sum, and suddenly ninjas smash through the windows. Cue the Matrix music, because I then pick up two CLEAR Uzis (sort of like HK G36 mags) and start John Wooing all around the room. Stupid, huh? ;)

And here I was, thinking that the reason you didn't notice Skunk was that he was so damn tactical.
:D
I carry a Walther PPK/S in .380. It makes for great pocket carry, but I do sometimes wonder, "Why do I bother?" I figure some gun is better than no gun, but I have really thought hard about just sucking it up and carrying my P-99. It's really a nobrainer, 7 or 8 rounds of .380 vs 16 or 17 rounds of 9mm, if only that belly didn't get in the way. :(

The best gunfighting dream I ever had involved an arms deal gone wrong, about fifty bad guys, and my USP 9mm that apparently had been forged in the fires of hell from the melted-down material of the flaming sword of the Angel of Death. The chamber was never empty, the bullets never missed, and the targets never survived. Also I had some kind of bullet-time going on, because the most intense parts were in slo-mo. I actually had that dream while I was trying to have a lucid dream, and the sheer absurdity of it triggered the desired effect. It wasn't nearly as awesome after I took control of it, though.

Was? WAS??

Dude. Yesterday: tactical. Today: tactical.

Tomorrow? Tactical.

Anything I did wrong?

Uh...Third trip to the food at a Chinese buffet? Shortly thereafter, the S will H Everything, in waves, every five minutes! :uhoh:

(Someday, I'll have to tell you my conspiracy theory about Chinese Restaurants)

Next time, resist the urge to finish off your leftover "Kung Pao Chicken" just before bedtime. That should solve most of the problems. And remember, "buffet" is a French word for "about to go bad".

Gotcha. I'm still partial to General Tsao's chicken and shrimp Lo Mein though.

On a side note, I had a dream about Jennifer Love Hewitt the other night. It was gooood. We were in the pool and....... never mind.

Come now... chinese restraunt... undergunned... it's a freakin' sign. Get a Beretta 92 :D No Chinese Buffet SHTF scenario is complete without the requisite pair of matched 92s, how else are you gonna pull a dual beretta john woo deal eh?

In my dreams, the gun is always tiny, with about a 40lb trigger, the bullets travel in slomo and bounce off the badguys forehead:banghead: Not very confidence inspiring, huh
