ok so i bought a sig trailside last year. i really like it other that it is not realiable. i bought it used at 350 with hardly any rounds though it. what is it worth. maybe 200 rd though it, 4 in barrel fixed sights. im thinking of a new buckmark. what do you guys think. i shoot it well, but one ftf in a clip or two is too much for me. i want something for target and squirrel hunting. looking toward a buckmark target but dont want to lose too much money. 1 put a scope on it and hope, or 2 trade for a buckmark or ruger mark II gov. what do you guys/gals think.

I really liked my Trailside, but I traded it in last week for a 229 as I rarely shot it. In my short experience it was more accurate than any Ruger or Buckmark I shot. Maybe send it back to SIGARMS for repair? If you're not happy with it, get a Buckmark. Trade in value at a gunstore would be about $250-$300 I would guess.

I've had no problems with my Trailside. It is one of my favorite .22LR pistols ever.

Have you tried different ammo? If that doesn't work, I'd send it back to the Sig to have it checked.

First I'd attempt to find a good brand of .22 ammo for it. Even the Brownings and Rugers, (I shoot two Mark II's in a Bullseye league), are a little picky about what is sent down their throats. With any autoloader .22, it is good to differentiate FTF as Failure to Feed, or, Failure to Fire. Some ammo is more prone to either. Or both! Wolf Target .22 is actually the worst stuff for my Rugers. I've settled in on Winchester T22, and WinX. Measuring the OD of some of the brands os lead offerings- There's a bit of a difference through the list of what's available. I have titanium firing pins in the MKII's with lightend springs, so Failure to Fire is a great concern. CCI aren't too bad, but the Win's are batting a 1,000 straight without a misfire. I can't say that for the Agula or a few other brands. Lucky to get 40 straight without a misfire.

Don't knock the Trailside if it's accurate and has a good trigger. You'd have a lucky draw from the lot if it is.

I have a Sig Trailside and a Ruger MkIII 22/45. The 22/45 is more reliable, but the Sig is more accurate and the trigger is much nicer. It needs to be cleaned every 500 rounds or so, otherwise it starts malfunctioning.

Thanks.

The first thing I would do is call SIG and tell them about your problems. It could be magazine related (my Trailside problem turned out to be.)

They sent me a new mag free of charge and the gun has worked fine ever since.

BTW, mine was used when I bought it too. . .no issues with customer service over that point.

perhaps off your preferred mark but I bought a conversion for my cz. I hear there are affordable offerings for the 1911 and such, not sure what you have though. If you do think about getting a new pistol I might look into their kadet. my adapter is well built but I can't comment on accuracy or dependability personally as I just got it today:) . thank god I'm in college cause I'm off to the rang right now
