Your experiences mirror mine with the Shield the pointedish thin backstrap seemed to want to move around in my hand. Liked the Shield, very well built and balanced just didn’t fit for me. Went to my CZ PCR which I love but would like to shave some weight off it for summertime carry, hence looking for a polymer striker option that isn’t too thick but not as thin as the majority of the single stacks out there.
I get why people are confused as to why someone would be excited about this, and understand the comments. But for me it seems to be the carry piece I’ve been waiting for. I have a feeling other manufacturers will come out with similar offerings once they figure out the design of the Sig magazine for their platforms.
Glock will have to ditch the polymer casing on their magazines and replace the mag release to compete at that capacity and thickness I think. Other manufacturers should have an easier time with such an endeavor.
While I think the Sig 365 is a great gun, I do not see other Firearm manufacturers jumping on the band wagon of redesigning all their micro 9mm's just to add a few more rounds. I know Sig 365 fans are big into these extra rounds, and it is hard for them to understand that it is not of importance, desired or even wanted by many. I personally do not want the extra weight, or a double stack magazine. I prefer a single stack. I remember when members of my club tested the 365 none of the shooters testing the gun were very excited about the 10 round magazine (all were very experienced shooters). It was not even mentioned very much. They were focused on how well the gun shot. And to this date, I would say 6 months ago, only one of us bought the 365 and that was a female shooter that liked the smaller grip.
If I do want to carry more rounds in a firearm, then I will go with a sub-compact which I feel or better sized for double stack magazines. I hope other manufactures leave their Micro 9's alone. Don't want extra rounds. I saw that the Sig 365 is coming out with a 15 round magazine. That should make them very happy. Me, not at all interested.
I know I will get flamed for what I just said, but just being honest. And Please, I am NOT disparaging the Sig 365. Although I do believe they should come out with another size grip for those like myself that just did not like the fact that there was just too much potential to ride the slide. Maybe then, I would be more receptive toward the gun. And if they do, keep the weight down. Do not go over the weight it already is.
