Sig Sauer 365 or Springfield Hellcat

The Hellcat arrived on the scene too late for me as an option. The P365 is a great fit for me and it checks all the boxes; 10+1 9mm, fits in pocket, great sights, reliable as all get out, outstanding trigger, and no thumb safety for me. No reason for me to consider the Hellcat at this point, but the Hellcat also checks most of the boxes, though I'd need to evaluate that trigger to be sure...not a fan of the trigger safety. There are reports of issues due to light side pressure applied to that trigger safety.

I haven't tried the Hellcat but I'm sure it's a swell little pistol. However, I've carried a P365 for a couple years now and see absolutely no reason to seriously consider the Hellcat as I find the P365 ergonomic, reliable and quite accurate. However, if a Hellcat scampered by with an attractive price tag attached, I would be tempted to stick it in the safe.

I do carry several others pistols on occasion including the venerable G19 (gen 4). Lately I've been carrying the fairly new Stoeger STR9 compact and I'm enjoying them quite a bit. I bought two for $269 each from PSA a couple months ago. I'll have to post a review on them soon as they're wonderful pistols.

My son went with the Sig.
Good choice, my 365 has been my daily carry 99% of the time for a couple years. Somewhere around 4000 rounds through it now. There isn't anything I don't like about it. For me it is the perfect carry gun and a very nice shooter for such a small pistol.

A Hogue grip sleeve and the 12 round magazine changes whole feel of Sig.
Just enough palm swell to make it last gun l need to buy .

that 12 rounder lets me get three full fingers on the grip; awesome fit for my hand as well.

I chose the Hellcat so that has to be the right answer . Seriously play with both and one feels better than other. Other than that it’s blonde vs brunette. However I will say make sure to know how want to carry. Many make mistake that has to be a tiny gun for initial ccw. I disagree. Most can easily carry a larger gun that is easier to shoot and carries more rounds. My G19 or 32 or 29 is carried 90% of time and Hellcat the other 10.

Agree. I carried a Ruger LC9S, then Glock 43 and disliked shooting them both. Handled the Sig, felt too tiny(and I don't have big hands). Glock 26, with G19 15R magazine, with sleeve..and it is perfect...for me.

Everyone that has a problem with the thin nature of most smaller guns, take a bike inner tube and cut it down and slap it on there. Seriously, it's on all my wife's guns. No need for expensive, made for a gun sleeve!

The Hellcat has two small advantages over the Sig, IMHO. With an added optic the Hellcat retains it's rear sight and therefore will co-witness with the optic, (should the optic fail). To add an optic to the Sig you must get the larger XL model and you lose the rear sight. The Hellcat mag capacity is higher. Not a big deal but in a comparison of very similar guns small differences are the only measure.

I did compromise a little bit in that I put a Sig Romeo Zero on the Hellcat. Very easy to see and fit perfectly with the iron sights. Love the "shake awake" feature... on when you hold the gun or off when at rest. Cool.

I agree with the others. If this is his gun, then quit pushing what you want and like on him. Let HIM decide, because he's the one that lives with the decision. They are both reputable gun manufacturers with solid reputations.

Please see post # 30. Why not at least read the thread before posting.

My apologies.. missed that post. My phone doesn't number them. I hope your son enjoys his P365 as much as I enjoy my P365XL.

I've been eyeing that pistol and came close a couple months ago to buying one. Have the shop not sold out, I certainly would have. I suspect I'll end up with a 365XL in the near future.

My son & I got to the range yesterday with his new P365. Ran 250 rds through it. The gun ran flawlessly. The sights were dead on. I was surprised by the soft recoil for its size. It has a very nice trigger, no creep or grittiness, and a very nice clean break. I shot a two inch group at 10 yards without any problem. The eurgos are excellent even with my bigger hands, it fit his hand like a glove. Thrilled with the performance and accuracy. He shot slightly tighter groups than I did. Having 27 year old eyes and reflexes does help LOL. All and all the P365 is one heck of a firearm and easily worth ever penny!

I could have written that myself, as that was my experience as well when testing out my new to me P-365.

I test shot both the P365 and the Hellcat and for me, I liked the trigger of the P365 more than the Hellcat, but the sights on the P365 were hard for my eyes to adjust to. The sights on the Hellcat were better for my eyes and even though I liked the P365 a little better, I shot the Hellcat better.

I ended up getting the P365 SAS because the sights worked much better for me, that is, the green dot in the green circle of the P365 SAS appeared to work with my eyes much better than the regular P365 three dot sights. The reality is, I'd by a Hellcat in a minute. IMHO it's a little snappier (more muzzle flip) and the trigger is not quite as good as the P365, but overall, it's a great little pistol. I'd recommend you son test shoot both guns and then buy the one he likes more.

I got the OSP version of the Hellcat knowing I wanted to try optics on small carry pistols. Well, I'm amazed now that I have a micro red dot on mine. I don't know why this didn't catch on sooner.

My time from draw, to on target, to lead on target has improved so much with the red dot!
