I'm considering a Sig P365 as my next 9mm purchase. My question is what model Glock is the closest in size to the 365 and of the two which would you recommend?

I'd say that a G43 is closest in size to a P365 in size, but the G43X is closest in capacity.

I prefer the Glocks because I can grind a bit of material off the trigger guard to avoid glock knuckle. The P365 has a small trigger guard with a hard edge. It hurt my little finners.

Trigger on the P365 is much better IMO than any factory Glock trigger. I sold the P365. Still have the Glocks.

The dimensions are available on the manufacturer's respective websites. Off hand, I'd agree with TacticalJanitor on the G43 being closest. If possible, go to a range where you can rent both and pick whichever one strikes your fancy. They're both fine weapons.

My biggest reason for not buying a Glock is the lack of a manual trigger safety, and the trigger dongle that things can get caught on. A minor reason for not buying a Glock is because it's FUGLY. But fugly would not stop me from buying a pistol if it fit my needs.

The P365 series is by far more configurable with 2 different slide lengths with a 3.1" and a 3.7" barrel length, and 3 different grip module heights holding 10, 12, and 17 rds respectively.

Wilson combat makes grip modules to fit that will also hold a 1.5 oz tungsten weight for better balance when the magazine is low on ammunition. There is also an all aluminum grip module available.

You can get magazine releases with different height buttons and even an offset button.

You can use the straight trigger or the curved trigger.

You can get it with or without an ambidextrous manual trigger safety. I cut off the manual trigger safety lever on the right side to better fit into my pocket holster.

You can easily mount an RDS.

And there a a number of different compensated versions available.

MagGuts makes magazine spring kits that will hold 2 extra rounds.

Have it YOUR way! Just don't add a little extra pickle on top. Cuz that would be messy.

Manual trigger safety? Is that like a trigger block safety on a Remington 870 or is it something else.

Stay safe.

Both companies make great firearms. Both have been around a long time. I own both Glocks and Sigs. IMO Sig is the better choice due to it's modularity. I don't care for how things the factory grip felt in my hand. I did some research and reached out to a couple people on here and ordered a Wilson Combat grip module. You can do that with Glocks, however you'd need to have it sent to an FFL. The Wilson Combat was sent right to my door step.

Not quite what you were asking about but I have a SIG P365X and a Glock G43X. The SIG is slightly smaller than the Glock in height and length, the width is the about the same, and the Glock weighs nearly an ounce more that the SIG.

Purely subjective both feel great in my hand with a slight edge to the P365X in overall ergos. It also has the better trigger and sights than that on the G43X. I bought the SIG first then went back a couple of weeks later and got the Glock G48 (because I liked it too), and besides, they were out of the G43X anyways! Waited a short while until the gun shop had some more in and picked one up!

My wife and I both carry Sig 365's. I also have a G43. They are very close in size. I can carry the Glock a tiny bit more comfortably IWB. But the Glock is 6+1, the Sig 10+1 and I also have 12 round mags that work in the Sig. Our Sig's also have the manual safety that is not an option on a Glock. If I had to choose only one the Sig by a wide margin.

Are you saying the G43X has better sights and trigger than the P365 or was that a typo?

Thanks!

Good catch on the typo! The P365X has the better trigger and sights.

I can shoot Glocks well but I've never enjoyed the feel of the grips. I and my fiancee carry the 365XL (with manual safety). The manual safety is an option and just keep it off if you don't want to use it. I use the safety because its the same as the 1911's I've been shooting 20 years plus. If it gets taken from me I can use percussive mainetanace while they are trying to figure the safety out. The triggers and sights are just better. I use a Mantis trainer and my Sig365 scroes are on par with my M17 & P320 and just a hair behind my 1911's. My 365XL is going to be my Steel Plates and IDPA gun for this coming season.
I bought a Beretta Bobcat for pocket carry but unless I can get it to group I'll be going back to a Sig365 standard for pocket carry.

The closest in size Glock for SIG P365 is Glock 42. However, that is in .380. The Glock 43 is the next biggest and it's somewhat larger, despite only having 6 round magazine. Note that although they are about the same size, G42 is noticeably lighter than P365. I think both have a lot going to them. If you can deal with the weight and recoil, as well as being about 10% thicker, P365 is clearly the way to go. Otherwise G42 is the choice. The G43 is pretty much outclassed by P365 in every regard.

Thanks for responding but I said in the OP " my next 9mm" as you pointed out the G42 is not a 9mm.

For me, the 365X was "goldilocks"
And the native 12 round grip on the X was key to that (although you want a loader for the first hundred or so round run in those 12 round mags).
Gets to splitting hairs on size:

Officer's is all of 11mm longer than a 365X, near the same width.

In a proper holster, that centimeter might not matter so much.

But, each one of us is different, so our individual mileage will vary.

Many of you have mentioned the P365X. That gun is quite a bit larger that the P365 which puts it in the same size class as my Kimber Micro 9 and my S&W M&P Shield. I'm looking for a smaller 9mm which the P365 is and apparently the Glock 43 is also.
So I would say my choice comes down to the P365 standard size or the G43.
But thanks for the info. I learn a lot from you guys

Yes, for a standard 365 you’re looking at a Glock 43.

Glock feels a little thicker in the grip to me, which is actually a boon since the base 365 is too thin for my hands, and the Glock does have significantly less capacity.

I like Glocks, quite a bit, but a 365 with Wilson frame is the route I’d go.

Yes, for me the longer X grip has no effect on concealment and is much easier to shoot and grip.

I guess for pocket (which I don’t do) the 10 round grip would be preferred.

I WAS a G48 guy, dyed in the wool, no going back. Then I shot a buddy's P365XL RomeoZero. This has been my EDC now for going on a year. upload_2023-3-10_9-10-30.png

From the phrase, I would read a “manual trigger safety” AS the little dongle on a Glock trigger. It’s manual, it’s on the trigger, and it’s a safety catch.

The trigger dongle is a striker safety that just happens to be located on the trigger. If you squeeze the trigger on a loaded Glock with a cocked striker, the Glock goes Bang!

If you squeeze the trigger on a P365 with a manual trigger safety engaged, it does NOT go bang.

Huge difference.

But what exactly is the "trigger safety" you refer to? Are you talking about a the safety on some P365's that is controlled with the thumb?
