I wish to buy an AR platform 7.62 Nato rifle.
The Sig looks just about what I am looking for, but after doing a simple google search for reviews one would think this is the worst rifle ever made.
I could not find anything on it in THR search. I just can't believe this rifle can be that bad. Anyone have experience with these. I have no experience with AR
type firearms at all.

I've had trouble finding all the terrible reviews you refer to. What type of common issues are being reported?

If i were getting a piston AR in .308 i'd give the PWS a hard look.

Failure to feed. Mostly You tube. Some other forums also have noted
ff problems and ref to "single shot Sigs". Love to find someone here
that has one. Will check out PWS.

I can say that after my purchase of an early 556 it is probably wise to let a new Sig model mature before buying.

I have heard from many sources that most of those terrible YouTube reviews are rigged by Sig haters.
I do not own a Sig 716, but I have talked to several knowledgeable people who think that it would make a great rifle. If it is really that bad, I am sure that Sig's customer service would make it right. So far Sig seems to be good to deal with.

Yes, "The Chart" group hate all SIG battle rifles, as they are NOT on "The Chart", or falling into their precious needed pigeon-hole of "mil-spec" componentry percentages.

The SIG rifles are excellent choices, any derivant.

I nearly pulled the trigger on one myself. Instead, I'm pulling the trigger on a Colt 901.

To me the single feature that floors me on the Sig are the QD sling swivel sockets built into the lower. THAT should be mil-spec.

Thanks Connex, I agree, it just looks fishy. But one video shows two 716's
side by side same mag, one is flawless the other has FF. The claim is that
the bad one was sent to Sig and returned as "could find no problem".
I have no experience with SIG but having that happen with no regress after
spending that much money!
I really like the feel of this rifle, I may do some more research but I think I'll go for it.
Thanks for input all.

If you do decide to go with the sig, be sure to give us a full report! If I was betting money I'd bet that you have a good experience with it :D

I have the Sig 516 and have had zero issues with it, extremely accurate rifle as well. My co-worker owns a 517 and is extremely happy with it and I can see myself owning one as well eventually. Sig's AR platform rifles seem to be exceptional, I'm hearing great things about the M400 as well, seems to be a heck of a good buy for the money.

powder, there wasn't any mention of the chart, so why even bring it up?

also how many sig rifles have you owned. what is your experience with them?

After paying more attention to the You Tube videos like I should have done
when I started this thread, I found that All the FF videos were authored
by the same person even though there were several different people in
them. I guess I'm fairly naive, what reason could anyone have do this.
Is this fairly common?

Plain and simple: Money. The smear campaign goes far and wide, "operators" here will tell you very convincingly that "...SIGs/RRA/BM are unproven..." blahblahblah, anything to cast a doubtful shadow on an awesome competitor which eating their lunch. Money.

The AR market is HUGE money with large mark-ups. SIG is selling incredible quality rifles for less money.

Wait for it.....

powder, again, what is your personal experience with the sig rifles. you seem to tout them so much, i'm sure others would love to hear your personal experience that has led you to recommend them so highly.

I too considered one of these rifles. I am sure they are really very good. As it is, I am content to shoot my PTR91 a few more years. :) There are so many accessories and sights and whatnot for the AR series of rifles that one could play "dress up" with them for a very long time. Change the stock, change the forestock, add on flashlights, so many neat accessories. I think that is one of the strengths of that rifle.

I like the ready availability of parts and dress up bits for the PTR91 also, but it doesn't even compare to the AR15 market.

If you get one of these in 308, which scope do you think you will install?

I just resized about 500 308's which are now out in the tumbler getting the lube off. It is no doubt my favorite military origin cartridge. Hope you have a lot of fun with your new toy.

Does anybody have firsthand experience with the Sig 716?

I'm getting close to dropping the hammer on one now that the prices have dropped back down to sane again.

Nice Rifle DB

I stayed in Meridian once upon a time at the Holiday Inn with the Indoor Swimming Pool.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr
