Sig vs Glock

What's your preferred brand for concealed carry? I must say I love both, but will probably get myself a Sig before a Glock. I'm particularly a fan of the P239, its size and shape is near perfect by my estimation and it's engineered to work so amazingly smooth. Also has the most comfortable DA/SA trigger I think I've ever fired.

What do y'all think?

I owned both a Sig 226 and a 220, did not like the DA/SA trigger.
I love Glocks.

Both.

Advantage goes to the "baby" Glock guns for concealability.

For 45 ACP shootin', I prefer the SIG P220.

In the end, I think the SIG looks better, but that's about it. I've shot 20k+ rounds through SIGs and probably 50k+ rounds through Glocks and they shoot about the same. Neither are highly tuned target guns like something that comes out of Les Baer's shop...but they're both certainly good guns.

Sig. I carry my p229 in a SmartCarry holster all the time. It doesn't print on me and is quite comfortable. I'm 5'10, 185lbs, so I don't like to carry huge firearms on me. The Sig does just fine. As for shooting a Sig, I have shot both frequently, and the Sig wins hands down. The Glock has a weird grip angle and to me has a snappier recoil. Plus, a Sig trigger is about as smooth as sticking your finger into a tub of warm butter...lol

Yep, my 3 P229's, two 40cal, one 9mm, just keep on getting smoother and smoother. One needed quick help, so I put in a Wolff 17lb main spring, put a dab of Eezox down there, and she's become my favorite DA/SA of the 3..

Also worth high mention, my P220/45

All DA/SA, and all get better and better with time/rounds fired

Nothing feels better to me than my P228, but the Glock probably has the edge for carry due to smaller size (lower profile) and greater capacity. My G23 and P228 are the same size, but the Glock seems better suited to CC.

I didn't vote for either as I prefer to carry my p239 if If I want to carry in 9mm even though I have a glock 26 I still prefer the 239 for 9mm, now if I want to carry 40 then I carry a glock 23 even though I have a p229 in 40 I still prefer the glock for carry.

I voted Glock -- it is ultra reliable and I don't care if I ding it up while I carry it.

The Sig P239 in .40 is my off-duty gun. I had the glock 27, but actually find the 239 EASIER to pack due to the fact it is slimmer, and it feels like it is just built "better". I have had no malfunctions with the Sig, but I can say the same for the Glock as well.

I shoot better with Glocks compared to the fat grip/double action trigger of the SIGs.

Personal anatomic preference.

I like the SIG P-239. The DA first shot doesn't trouble me and the single stack grip is comfy. I prefer the SIG's trigger once it hits SA. The Glock's trigger reminds me of trying to snap a turkey bone wrapped in sponge.

I mostly carry a CCO sized 1911 sort of mutant thing but the SIG still sees a good deal of use and it's size is nice.

There are SIGs that are larger than mine and Glocks that are smaller - I suspect your poll won't mean much - they both cover the waterfront of grip sizes, etc. and may just boil down to your preference in trigger. 'Course the DAK complicates even that criteria.

I do not like the Sig's decocker lever for a CCW gun. Too easy to have an ND during post incident stress if you forget to decock before reholstering.

I used Glocks for police duty and quite a bit of CC from early 2002 to late 2004. In November 2004, I finally got to handle a SIG P229R with a short factory trigger, and it was a "eureka" moment. I had long loved the feel of the P226, P228, and P229, but the reach to the trigger was too much for me, in DA mode. This new P229R not only had the short factory trigger, but also the new DAK trigger system, so I did not need to re-learn the DA-to-SA transition, I could shoot it just like a DA sixgun or Glock. The first time I fired this new P229 was on my agency's qual course, I shot a better score than in two years of trying with Glocks. (G22, mostly.) As soon as I had a few hundred rounds of FMJ and then 200 rounds of duty ammo through the P229, it became my duty pistol, and I never looked back. The Glocks all went away. I eventually acquired good CC leather for P229s, then more more P229s.

Glocks are good pistols, just not ideally proportioned for my hands, and that mushy trigger was never as good for me as either a heavier but smoother DA trigger, or a good crisp SA trigger. Glocks triggers are also wide, which is not to my liking. During the trigger stroke, my trigger finger rubbed against the frame, which any makes it harder to hold the weapon steady, especially when shooting one-handed. I really did try to like Glocks, but it was just a losing proposition.

Another reason your P239 probably conceals better is that the Glock slide protrudes farther to the rear, to enclose the striker mechanism. Hammer-fired pistols' slide do not have to stick back so far. The way I carry a pistol, the most likely part to "print" is the outside rear corner of the slide, which is yet another reason I like SIGs better. I can conceal a double-stack P229 better than I could a "baby" Glock.

I hear you there. Sigs are bulkier and heavier than a Glock of the same weight class. It is easier for me to carry my 23 than almost all of my other guns, except the 27. And I put a smooth trigger and a LWD 3.5# connector in each of my Glocks, I can't tell you how much better it is. Those serrated triggers are my least favorite part of a compact or subcompact Glock.
