My buddy was thinning out some of his collection, and not really being a plastic kind of guy, offered me a first generation Sigma 9mm cheap. He bought it used last year and had only run about 100 rounds through it. It looks brand new, there's not a blemish anywhere on it.

Having heard all the bad talk about the first generation Sigmas, i was a little leery but decided i'd check it out for myself.

I ran 260 rounds through it (200 rounds of PMC 124gr FMJ and 60 rounds of Winchester 115 gr Silvertips) without a single problem. After the first couple magazines full i finally got used to the long slightly heavy trigger pull, and at 21 ft simi rapid fire, groups were all in the black. Not great groups i know, but for a half blind old man, it'll do.

It's been awhile since i've done any plinking, and this gun reminded why i like 9mm hardball. Besides, for $150 and loaded up with Silvertips, it'll make a great garage stash gun.

It sounds like you've nearly gotten your money's worth out of it already. Heck, I paid more than that for a used kel tec P32. I never owned a sigma, but the only real criticism I ever heard, is that the the trigger tends to be long and heavy. I'd say you found an excellent deal.

If you are getting it cheap then great. SW never makes faulty products. They will shoot when you pull the trigger. However, I have had two Sigmas and got rid of them both because of their hard trigger pull. Other than that there is nothing wrong with the pistol.

of that is how much that he wants then take it. you already shot it, and you know you can hit with it, and that it is reliable, might as well, i see no reason not too.

other than a sig 229 i USED to own (god i wish i had that one back) my sigma gives me the best groups of all the pistols i have owned (xd, taurus, ruger, glock).

i paid MUCH more for mine, but I got one of the first gens as soon as they were available.

The gun I really want to like; the price is great, they fit the hand...but oh the trigger.

You made a great deal.

I almost got one, but as mentioned, the trigger was awful! I ended up going with a Sig 225. I Like the pistol though, I wonder if they make a trigger kit for it though.
good luck

The trigger pull seems to be the biggest gripe with the Sigma, but after a couple magazines full i got used to the trigger pull. All in all, i'm happy with it.
