Single action .380's?

Gary, Sig produces the P 938 which is 1/2 " longer, in 9mm takes seven rounds and is much like a 1911 in operation. Put a .22 conversion kit on and you have a two caliber pistol, make the conversion a target kit (instead of the shorter fixed sight unit) and you have one sweet, accurate, reduced size pistol. I love mine.

You are correct, Ibmikey. I added that comment without giving it much thought, though I have been thinking of buying a P938 Extreme. Really wish they would make an all-steel HD 938. Yowsa!

I second the Bersa thunder or Bersa CC.

There also is the Tanfoglia Witness Pavona that can be carried cocked and locked or in DA/SA mode.

The Pavona is a direct copy of the CZ75B, but in 380 with a shortened 3-1/2" barrel and a double stack magazine that gives it a 14+1 capacity.
After you mentioned it, i checked it out. I may have to get one of those Tanfoglia Witness Pavonas for my wife. She has the same issue as the OP mentioned

Just shot mine for the first time last Thursday. It is a tack driver at self defense distances, has very mild felt recoil, an excellent trigger and a very easy to rack slide but is a little on the heavy side.

Still my choice for pocket carry is a Glock G42 with a 7 round magazine and another backup magazine.

If she can cock a 1911 style Sig have her try either a Sig 230 or Sig 232. To me they are easier to cock, easier to shoot well but "Not" easier to conceal. Sig 230 to me is one of the best .380's ever built.

Funny, I found the 230 to be the most unpleasant pistol I've ever shot.

I really like the 230/232 but with its low profile hammer found it not particularly easy or intuitive to cock.

The Girsan MC-14 is a bit bigger and heavier than most of the 380 offerings today, but some largish Berettas have been mentioned in this thread so I thought I'd mention the Girsan MC-14. It is DA/SA but it can be carried cocked and locked as safely as any SA pistol.

When getting a Bersa Thunder, I suggest getting the "Combat" model for the extra round, better sights, and awesome grip. Even though the grip is green.. LOL

Everyone who has held or shot the Combat model has had to go get the pistol

My other recommendation if not looking for a single stack is to get the double stack .380 ACP from Bersa. With Underwood Ammo either shooting the bonded Gold Dot or an XTP hollow point, I prefer the XTP from my experience with this bullet. It really makes the .380 ACP what it could and should be with a 3.5" barrel.

The reason I pick the XTP over the Gold Dot is because I have never had an XTP hollow point separate it's jacket. Also, the bullet expands rapidly, but keeps it's base without massive petals, so you get a good hollow point with excellent penetration.

GaryA, A little off the OP's question but since he bought a Bersa (sigh) i will change to your wish...Sig has a 9mm out now: Sig P 938 which is just slightly larger than my 238 and is a real pleasure to shoot. I coupled my 938 with a .22 conversion kit from Sig ( standard model not target mod) which has night sights and a slide the same length as the 9mm. Now i have a very versitle pistol which requires only the removal of the slide stop to change calibers.

.45-70TC, I assume you have the "regular" LC9. The LC9s, a striker-fired model, was released only recently by Ruger to address this very issue; has she handled one of those yet?

The Chiappa looks interesting but I'm always concerned about parts and service availability from these Turkish imports.

The Tanfoglio Pavona in 380 has a 14+1 capacity (advertising says 13+1 but the magazine says 14 and does hold 14 rounds) and if you like the CZ platform this the pistol for you. It can be carried DA/SA or cocked and locked.

I have a Llama 380 Model IIIA. It's a scaled down 1911, has a pretty easy to rack slide, especially if you pre-cock the hammer, and it's easy on the recoil (compared to blowback models).

I was going to get rid of it when I bought my SIG P232, but instead I got rid of the P232 and kept the Llama. Go figure, I like it better.
