I have a 1076 and would like to get some spare mags. I don'T think they are available from S&W. Any aftermarket available?

I didc check CDNN . It looks like the carry some 3rd gen mags but no 10mm.

check out mecgar mags. Last time I checked, I could find 3rd gens from them.

I was picking them up for ~$30 on ebay (for my S&W 1076) from time to time. I picked up several, including three brand new still in the shrink-wrap.

About two weeks ago all heck broke loose and the prices skyrocketed. I saw a new in the shrink-wrap go for over $75 last week.

Keep an eye out- gun shows, auction sites etc. Good luck.

Midway sent out a bunch of backorder cancellations on the S&W Gen 3 hardware last week. I'm guessing S&W told them they wouldn't be filling the backorders.

Thanks for the suggestions. Guess I just need to keep looking. I wonder why no aftermarket manufacturer hasn't started to produce mags for the 3rd gen smiths. There are a lot of pistols out there that are going to need magazines.

Mec-Gar makes magazines for the 9x19 double-stack S&W 3rd Generation pistols. Nothing for any other caliber. Very nice magazines.

ProMag makes magazines for the 9x19, .40, and .45 guns, but my experience with them is such that I cannot recommend them.

I checked an LGS and another LGS/LGR and no dice; its a real shame that you can't get magazines for such a great gun!

Large gun shows are good sources.

Agree. If the manufacturer itself is sourced out of 3rd Gen 10mm mags, then unfortunately gun shows or the on-line secondary market (eBay, GunsAmerica, GunJoker, etc) are really your only options left.

I have a 1006 and have successfully scrounged a few extra mags over the past couple of years. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have bought 5 of the factory mags during the last production run.

I found most of my extras in the used mag bin at long established Mom & Pop gunshops. I passed on a used white follower example at the Tanner show in Denver last weekend for $50 because the guide dimples seemed to be much shallower than normal.

I wonder if Smith made these 3rd gen mags in house, or brought them from a 3rd party? Seems like somebody, like Midway, could contract directly if the second case it true.

Go online to Summitgunbrokers.com and get a phone number. Call and ask him to check his back room. He often has goodies hidden away that are not listed on his site.

great prices on used handguns.

I emailed Summit asking about how to purchase the mags listed on the site. The next day the price went from $35 to $45.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out. The High Road comes through again!

I'm member over on the smith-wessonforum.com also and after asking the same question about magazines for a 6906, I got a response from another member who wanted to sell a couple. It's a good source for S&W info and parts.
