Has anyone wanted a gun from Wal Mart that was not currently in stock? This is my situation. Wal Mart can order the gun for me. I was just wondering if anyone has done this at Wal Mart and what results you got.

i ordered two pink cricketts from them. took about a week and a half. you order them and essentially put them in layaway, or half down. then when they come in, you go to layaway and get them, then go to the gun counter to sign the paperwork. no big deal.

What sort of things can they get, though? Just "hunting rifles", or things like a Kel-Tec Sub 2000, that SHOULD be $260, but that stores like to think they can get away with asking $400 for?

Their catalog has a bunch of stuff, don't recall if there were any Keltecs but they had Steyr rifles as an example. The web site has a section of special order stuff also but as I recall it doesn't have everything the store catalogs have.

I ordered my Marlin .357 from them. If you go to the web site they actually have a huge catalog. They can get pretty much anything you might need, though maybe not everything you might want.

I can't remember if I paid everything up front or only half but basically you put some money down and they order your gun just like a gun store. Takes about week or two to come in. Fill out your forms and you're out the door. The down side of course is that the price is entirely no haggle, and everything they carry would be considered "hunting" in some way. You aren't getting an AR or an AK from Wally world.

If you go to their website, you can see all the rifles and shotguns that they have available to them. Basically every Ruger, Winchester, Remington, Henry, Marlin, Mossburg, and other brands of rifle and shotgun. Sometimes, they have certain models/features that you can ONLY get at Walmart. Some manufacturers will use Walmart as a test-bed for models that they are thinking of adding to their line, but want to see how sales through Walmart will be first.

I special ordered a Mini-14 from them a few years back. Standard Stainless. Here's how the process works. You ask what they have in inventory and they don't have what you want. You ask to see the catalogue. Peruse it for a few minutes, find firearm you're interested in, ask to order it. They then immediately put the order in and you pay for half of it upfront and the remaining balance goes to Lay-away.
Once you've paid off the sum, it's expected that the firearm will have been delivered (if it is not, you have grounds to argue with the manager for a price reduction). When you pick it up, they do the 4473 & NICS.
Take your new firearm home, BA/UU/R :)
I worked at Wallies world when I bought my mini though, and every Black Friday they gave all the associates a coupon good for an additional 10% off of any one item on top of your 10% associate discount card. I got into that sucker right! ;)
