I"m new to THR and looking foreward to good conversation. I have been looking for a Springfield "03 for some time and just had the good fortune to purchase one in a package deal with an M1 Garand. I"ve been researching them online and discovered a wealth of info. Now I wonder if Springfield is superior to or more collectable than other manufacturers offerings ? I didn"t realize so many companies also produced these models. Anyone have an opinion ?

Nope, sorry. Look at the numbers produced by all. I have had one of the guys behind the desk at the CMP North Store tell me that Winnie (For M1 that is) rifles had the roughest machining, (but they still passed inspection). Heard that from a couple other collectors too. Never heard that Springfields were in any way superior.

    Welcome to THR.

Not entirely true. Some models are very collectible, but also very rare. But Tim is right your average Springfield 1903 or 03A3 is no more collectible than most other makers.
