Wouldn't be too bad if somebody hadn't taken a milling machine to the slide. An XD40 is not a match grade gun, and has no need for target sights. Personally, I'd give $300 - $350 for it. The grip tape, magwell, magazine base pad and trigger parts kit are all reversible, the screwed up slide is not.

If it makes you happy, then you know you didn't give up too much for it :)

how can i safely remove the grip tape and what chemicals can i use to get the sticky off without doing something to the frame. I traded a Bushmaster Carbon 15 pistol for this straight up so im thinking i didnt come out to good on this deal.

This one?

value is realative to who you ask, as well the acessories, sights and etc that arte the gun. personally a stock xd .40 service model is worth more to me than MSRP. 17,000rds and still going strong, multiple training courses, eats everything i feed it, accurate, and easy and fun to shoot.

now the pistol would be of less value to me than a standard xd just to me personally, and this is why.
1) i prefer the 4" service models
2) i don't like/ have a need for adjustable sights/ fiber optic on my handguns.
3) i don't like trigger jobs on fighting guns.

however if this is a competition set up it should be good to go.
the grip tape is nice, and i have experimented with it and used it a bit on my xd, the 3m outdoor step tape to be specific, the mag funnel is nice too.

the overall value depends on the person as well as the context in which it is used. i think that you made a great trade, the pistol type ar's are ridic IMHO so you did well, and i would have made that trade in a heart beat!

The XD Tac. is an excellent choice for uspsa/ipsc Production Class. There are some guys running them for Limited Class too. A trigger job on an XD can be made as close to a single action as you can get without it being a single action. This one looks like it was set up for Limited: it has what looks like a mag. extension, a magwell, grip tape and target sights and its in .40 which is the caliber of choice for Limited Class. Even though the grip tape may look ugly its incredible effective and helpful when shooting competitively. Its a nice firearm you got there and infinitely more usable than what you traded for it...you did well. Now do yourself a favor and find your nearest uspsa club and have more fun with a gun than you ever thought possible.

i am wanting to trade this locally for a iphone 3Gs and $200 does anyone think that this is a fair trade for someone wanting this pistol
